Madeleine McCann -- Missing 5/3/07

Post by Guest on Mon Mar 22, 2010 3:54 pm

It encourages me to see that Madeleine has not been forgotten, even though I feel that her parents know more than they have let on...

Private investigators searching for Madeleine McCann mounted a surveillance operation amid fears that she was being held prisoner in a run-down farmhouse, secret police files reveal.

They acted after a British holidaymaker spotted a ‘gaunt’ blonde girl wearing a black wig being dragged by ‘gipsy women’ 30 miles from where Madeleine was snatched.

Jean Godwin, 56, a retired care home worker, said the girl she saw on the Algarve was ‘100 per cent Madeleine McCann’.

One of the women spotted in Carvoeiro by Mrs Godwin was seen by another British tourist acting suspiciously outside the McCanns’ apartment on the day the youngster vanished from Praia da Luz.

The evidence prompted investigators to follow their suspect to an isolated farmhouse in an orange grove near the town of Silves, north of Portimao. In the following months she paid several visits to the property, a holiday home owned by a teacher and his partner whom the inquiry team deemed to be ‘suspicious’.

Their concerns were raised when they discovered a white Citroen Berlingo with a child’s doll on the back seat and a child’s drawing among rubbish bags – even though the couple did not have young children.

Investigated: Jorge Martins and partner Maria Silveira had their remote home checked
They also spotted the man buying clothes suitable for a girl of five – Madeleine’s age at the time. But surveillance was eventually wound down and the child was never found.

The operation began in 2008 after Mrs Godwin, from Widnes, Cheshire, rang the ‘Find Madeleine’ hotline and gave her suspicions to private investigators. By this stage, the official police inquiry into the disappearance on May 3, 2007, had been closed.

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry continued to employ private detectives in the hope of finding their daughter but these investigators have no legal powers to force suspects to talk to them. The sightings were passed to the Portuguese police who deemed them irrelevant and promptly archived the reports.

Details of the evidence are contained in a 2,000-page police dossier finally published by the Portuguese authorities after requests from newspapers including the Daily Mail. It contains the testimony of Mrs Godwin, who claims she spotted Madeleine in September 2008.

She said: ‘This was a young girl, in the middle of the two women and holding the hand of each. Her eyes were wide open and my attention was drawn to the large irises.

‘The child was wearing what was clearly a black wig. It was short, cut in a bob style and very thick. The wig was shiny and unnatural looking and out of keeping with her very pale complexion and fair eyebrows.

‘I would say she was about 3ft 1in tall and about five years of age. She was very thin and I would describe her as malnourished. Her cheeks looked gaunt. I think she had a bump on her nose.

'I am convinced that the little girl I saw that morning was Madeleine. I have been asked how certain I am. I will say I am 100 per cent sure.’

Mrs Godwin described the first woman as being an ‘obese’ size 30, in her mid-to-late 40s with ‘dirty and unkempt’ red hair. The second woman was around 60, with unwashed brown hair, and even fatter.

The McCanns’ investigators believe the red-haired woman was Yvone Albino, a cleaner from Silves. Another witness, Jeni Weinberger, from Salisbury, Wiltshire, said she saw a woman resembling Mrs Albino outside the McCanns’ apartment in May 2007.

Mrs Albino, who has two grown-up sons, met teacher Jorge Martins and his partner Maria Silveira at their house in the orange grove.

David Edgar, a private investigator working for the McCanns, described their movements as ‘suspicious’.

Portuguese police confronted Mrs Albino, who said she knew nothing about either sighting and denied any contact with young children. Officers found the house deserted. The woman with Mrs Albino in Carvoeiro was never identified.

Mr Martins and Miss Silveira have never been accused of any crime by police. He told police the doll was given to him by his students several years earlier.

The McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: ‘It’s clear that our investigators have made considerable efforts to follow up leads but without having full access to the files and co-operation from the Portuguese police.’

Thanks Tish. That was really interesting. It's a shame though when their surveillance doesn't turn up the child they're looking for.

I hope Madeleine is found some day.

Britain has 'given up on Madeleine'

The father of missing Madeleine McCann has said his "innocent, vulnerable" daughter had been "essentially given up on" by British authorities.

During a television interview days before the third anniversary of her disappearance, Gerry McCann urged the Government to carry out a "comprehensive review" of the case.

He told Lorraine Kelly: "It's not right that an innocent, vulnerable British citizen is essentially given up on.

"And I don't think it's right that as parents, that we have to drive the search. Of course we will, but not everyone has had the same resources and support that we have had to be able to do that. And I think it's pretty cruel."

The pre-recorded GMTV interview will be broadcast on Wednesday. Mr McCann said it was "incredibly frustrating" that police in Portugal and the UK are not doing more to find the missing youngster.

At the time of her disappearance, the couple were criticised for leaving their three children alone in a holiday apartment as they went for dinner nearby. Mr McCann said that if they could go back, they would not have left her alone.

He said: "If we could turn back the clock and change what happened, obviously we wouldn't have done it. We can't. And what I would say is, you know, people have got to put themselves into our position. What would you do if it was your daughter? After this, what would you do?"

The parents still believe Madeleine, who went missing when she was three, is alive and are releasing a pack for people to take abroad and put up posters featuring her picture.

Kate McCann said: "Certainly in my heart I feel she is out there. I mean I know there is nothing to say that she isn't, so we have to carry on working and thinking like that.

"I mean logically I can't say, I mean none of us can say for definite other than the people involved. But I know we can't give up because there is no evidence to say that she is not."

Murder chief for Maddie

Top cop spearheads new probe into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann

By Lucy Panton, Crime Editor, 09/05/2010
BRITAIN'S top murder cop has been lined up to spearhead a new probe into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, we can reveal.

Det Chief Insp Colin Sutton, 49, who has been involved in some of the UK's biggest inquiries - including the murder of Milly Dowler and the terror reign of the Nightstalker sex beast - is seen as the best man to handle the challenging review.

Senior child protection officer Jim Gamble has asked Scotland Yard to take a fresh look at the three-year investigation.

He blasted Portuguese cops for their handling of the hunt for Maddie - who vanished aged three from her family's Algarve holiday apartment in 2007. Now the Met Police are set to review all leads in the case, using technology and standards expected in a UK homicide or kidnap.

It will delight Maddie's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. A senior police source said: "They deserve reassurance that everything that can be done has been done."

MADELEINE SUSPECT 'ON BEACH SNAP'

Sunday May 9,2010
By James Murray

DETECTIVES have been handed a photograph showing a man behaving oddly in the days before Madeleine McCann was kidnapped.

A British holidaymaker accidentally captured him in the background of a family snap taken at the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in April 2007, days before Madeleine, then three, disappeared.

It was passed to detectives from Leicestershire who are assisting the police in Portugal. Last week we published Gail Cooper’s account of her encounter with the strange man when he later came to her holiday villa in the resort, asking for money for an orphanage.

Today we reveal that one of Mrs Cooper’s friends, Leanda Hodson-Mackey, took a snap of her husband Stephen, 34, and son, then aged two, and the man appeared in the background, walking along the beach during a downpour.

Although his features cannot be clearly made out, there is a rough image which could be enhanced with FBI picture improvement techniques.

Mrs Cooper, 53, from Newark, Nottinghamshire, told the Sunday Express last week she believes the same man went on to kidnap Madeleine McCann.

She had flown to Luz with a party of 13 family and friends in the week before Madeleine was taken, to celebrate her 50th birthday. Mrs Hodson-Mackey, 34, and her family spent four days at an apartment in the Mark Warner complex with Leanda’s mother Trudy Dawkins, 49, and her husband Lee, 40.

The apartment was directly above apartment 5a, where the McCanns would stay the following week.

Last night Mrs Dawkins, also from Newark, said: “When we were back home it was on the news that Madeleine had disappeared and we all racked our brains to see if there was anything we could remember which would help the investigation.

“We all remembered this man walking along the beach in the rain, then Gail recalled he later went to her villa.

Maybe there's a link to this man, hopefully someone will recognize him and they can locate him. If he was just vacationing and not a regular, it will certainly be a longshot to find out who he is.

McCanns Launch Missing Child Alert System

Kate and Gerry McCann will today help launch a revamped nationwide alert system for missing children.

The parents of Madeleine McCann have been campaigning for a system to be operational in the UK since the disappearance of their daughter in Portugal in May 2007.

The network will be compatible with other European countries for the first time.

Similar to the amber alert in the US, the system is aimed at raising public awareness if a child goes missing and will also allow police to issue Europe-wide alerts.

Regional and national television and radio stations will broadcast messages, in some cases interrupting scheduled programmes.

The revamped system is being launched on International Missing Children's Day.

Chief Constable Peter Neyroud, head of the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA), said: "Through Child Rescue Alert the community is able to form a strong alliance to help in the hunt for child abductors when an alert is activated.

"It is fitting that the NPIA should relaunch (the) alert on International Missing Children's Day, which forms a poignant reminder of the sense of devastation caused to the parents and families of children who go missing."

Police say the first few hours after an abduction are crucial in locating a missing child.

But they expect the alerts to be rarely issued and will use new computer software to handle the anticipated deluge of calls from concerned members of the public.

The system is being co-ordinated by the NPIA and any national abduction will be led by Greater Manchester Police.

Portugal, Spain and the Czech Republic have already introduced their versions of child abduction alerts that link with the European network.

The previous national alert system was established in 2005 and has only been used on a handful of occasions.

An alert can only be issued when the child is aged under 18, there is a reasonable belief he or she has been abducted and could be in imminent danger.

Thanks for the update. I am glad that Maddies parents have risen above all the negativity and suspicion. I cant imagine what it wud be like to lose a child, and even worse to be accused in having a hand in it... On account that there is no evidence that says they know anything about this sad crime, I will believe that Maddie and her family were victims of a heinous crime like many we have seen over the years.. No forced entry, and a missing child!

Portuguese man 'saw lost Madeleine'

May 25 2010

A Portuguese man has come forward to report a possible sighting of Madeleine McCann the day after she disappeared, it has been revealed.

Carlos Moreira, 65, saw a young blonde girl wearing pyjamas like those of the missing British child in the back of a van on May 4, 2007.

But he only contacted the private investigation team employed by Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, last week.

It is understood that he did not think the information was relevant until learning in a recent TV programme that Portuguese police did not mount roadblocks following the little girl's disappearance.

Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday flat in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on the night of May 3, 2007, as her parents dined with friends nearby.

At about 8am the next morning Mr Moreira saw a young girl lying at an angle in the back of a white van at a roadside snack bar near the Portuguese capital Lisbon, some 170 miles to the north. He said she was with a man and a woman.

It is understood Mr Moreira was not certain that he saw Madeleine, but recalled that the girl was wearing pink and yellow pyjamas similar to the ones the missing child had on when she vanished.

He told a newspaper: "When the van door was opened, she did not wake up, as if she was drugged. This girl was blonde and looked around four."

McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "I can confirm that Mr Moreira has been spoken to by the private investigators currently searching for Madeleine.

"I cannot go into any further detail for operational reasons. He has done absolutely the right thing in coming forward with his information despite it being so long after the event."

McCanns: We fear the hunt for Maddie is over

By ANTONELLA LAZZERI
November 3, 2010

KATE and Gerry McCann fear the three-year hunt for missing daughter Maddie is about to end.

They revealed the Find Madeleine Fund has dwindled from £2million at its peak to £300,000.

Their worldwide search for Maddie - aged three when she disappeared on holiday in Portugal in May 2007 - will be wound up because they will no longer be able to pay specialist investigators when the money runs out.

Kate, 42, said: "It will be just me and Gerry left looking for her."

For three and a half years Kate and Gerry have searched tirelessly for Maddie.

Every spare moment has been devoted to the hunt.

But Kate yesterday admitted that for the first time she fears they may never find her.

Within weeks of Maddie being snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, money from the public poured in to boost the Find Madeleine Fund.

At its height it stood at £2million. But now there is just £300,000 left.

Desperate for help, the couple are launching an online petition asking the public to back them and demand the British and Portuguese governments do more to find Madeleine.

And they have sent out "begging letters" to sponsors, including author JK Rowling, tycoon Richard Branson, comic Jack Dee and other high-profile celebrities asking them to contribute to the fund.

They hope the public will be touched by their plight and give too.

Clutching her husband's hand tightly, an emotional Kate admitted: "There is only enough money in the Find Madeleine Fund to keep the hunt going until spring 2011.

Relative of Little Girl May Find McCanns’ Account of Disappearance ‘Too Upsetting’ to Read
Missing Madeleine book is ‘truthful and scathing’

By Mel Fairhurst
Published: 25/11/2010

An aunt of missing youngster Madeleine McCann has described a new book about her disappearance as “truthful and scathing”.

The girl’s parents, Gerry and Kate, have secured a multimillion-pound deal to write an account of their search for their daughter, who vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

Money raised by sales of the book, entitled Madeleine, will be used to pay for their ongoing hunt for the child, who was aged four when she disappeared.

The couple, who are both 42 and have five-year-old twins Amelie and Sean, revealed recently that their search fund was dwindling.

UK cops 'developed' McCann evidence

Published on Tue Dec 14 07:16:33 GMT 2010

British police helped "develop" evidence against Madeleine McCann's parents as they were investigated by Portuguese authorities looking into their daughter's disappearance, according to diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks.

Britain's ambassador to Portugal, Alexander Wykeham Ellis, reportedly made the claim to his American counterpart on September 21, 2007 - two weeks after Portuguese police named Gerry and Kate McCann as "arguidos", or formal suspects, in the case.

In a cable to Washington, US Ambassador Al Hoffman wrote: "Madeleine McCann's disappearance in the south of Portugal in May 2007 has generated international media attention with controversy surrounding the Portuguese-led police investigation and the actions of Madeleine's parents.

"Without delving into the details of the case, Ellis admitted that the British police had developed the current evidence against the McCann parents, and he stressed that authorities from both countries were working co-operatively.

Madeleine McCann is in America – and I know who took her

From EMILY NASH and JON CLARKE in Huelva, Spain

Published: 18 Feb 2011
AN INVESTIGATOR has told cops Madeleine McCann was taken to the US - and he has named two key suspects.

Marcelino Italiano, 36, said she had been snatched by an Algarve-based paedophile ring. The amateur sleuth added: "They can get away with anything."

Maddie vanished in Portugal in May 2007.

Angolan-born Italiano said the gang of influential and dangerous perverts had hunted children in the Algarve before smuggling them out of Portugal.

And he told how he had to flee for his life when his investigations threatened to unmask them.

The 6ft 4in nightclub bouncer said: "I know these people were involved and I have been told that Madeleine may now be in America.

"I can't say how, but I have known these people and believe they can get away with anything.

Reopening the wounds: Kate McCann visits Maddie's room twice a day and the pain is raw. But she hopes her book will revive the hunt

By Natalie Clarke
Last updated at 6:48 PM on 16th April 2011

Earlier this week, Kate McCann signed off the final chapter of her book about her lost daughter, Madeleine. It is now with the publishers, and a rush is on to have the book edited, printed and on sale by the planned publication date of May 12, which will be Madeleine’s eighth birthday.

The book, simply entitled Madeleine, gives Kate’s account, in her own words, of her daughter’s disappearance during a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007, and the dramatic events that followed.

Four years after Madeleine’s disappearance, there is, sadly, still no prospect of an epilogue to the book anytime soon, answering that heart-rending mystery: Where is Maddie?

Madeleine McCann felt violated after diaries reprinted

Avril Ormsby, Reuters
November 24, 2011, 5:13 am

LONDON (Reuters) - The mother of missing youngster Madeleine McCann described Wednesday how she felt "violated" by the publication of her diary in the News of the World without her permission.

Kate McCann told the Leveson inquiry into media practices and ethics how she had returned from church to discover that the newspaper had virtually printed her diary verbatim from what looked like a Portuguese translation without her knowledge.

"I felt totally violated. You know, I'd written these words and thoughts at the most desperate time in my life," she said.

"Most people won't have to experience that and it was my only way of communicating with Madeleine."

She said it had made her feel "very vulnerable and small."

Kate McCann and her husband Gerry also told the hearing at London's High Court how after their young daughter went missing during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007 media coverage quickly became speculative and sinister.

Pat Brown is in Praia da Luz at the moment researching the McCann case. You can buy her ebook The Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann, from Barnes and Noble, where she sets out her theory about what happened on the night of May 3rd. It will be interesting see what she finds out on her visit. You can follow her time in PDL on her website http://www.patbrownprofiling.blogspot.com/.

The blemish is called a coloboma of the iris. Its precise incidence is not recorded in the UK, but figures suggest it occurs in about 0.007% of the population.

Forgive me if this information has been previously posted. Just getting caught up on this site! The Right eye blemish is not that common and is not something that can be hidden or changed. Seems like this would be something very easy to spot and distinguish this girl.

KH I am not sure that I have a "side" in this case! I do think that it is outrageous to have left such young children on their own while going to dinner (some people must have sponges for brains and they get a little "water" logged at times (or some other liquid)).. There have been several high profile cases where I have had an opinion. Unfortunately, my opinion has not been proven in some of them. lol I am very opinionated and have had friends disagree strongly with my take on some cases.. oh well! Jonbenet was one of those cases. Andrea Yates was another case where although not missing was a very "HOT" topic that caused lots of differences of opinion in my circle. JMO this morning!

Former Top Detective: Madeleine Is Alive

12:44am UK, Tuesday 03 July 2012
By Martin Brunt, crime correspondent

A former top Scotland Yard detective has written a detailed analysis of the Madeleine McCann mystery and explains why he believes there is a good chance she is alive.

Ian Horrocks visited the holiday resort where the toddler vanished and examined police files and media reports.

Drawing on 30 years' experience investigating murder, kidnap and sex crimes he considers all the possible explanations for her disappearance.

He explains why his belief that murder or kidnap by a paedophile ring or individual are less likely and totally rules out Madeleine's parents' involvement or an accident.

Madeleines parents were guilty of neglect resulting in harm leaving a 3 yr old babysitting her 2 yr old siblings.
In Portugal they could have faced 10 yrd jail, the PJ didn't charge them since if they had they then could not have charged them with homicide, concealing a corpse and filing a false police report.
Both refused to co-operate withh the police with kate refusing to answer 48 questions despite admitting it would hinder the investigation.
The previous night the lady upstairs heard a child crying for 95 minutes before suddenly going quiet.
The Owners of the holiday complex had to call them back during the week from a restaurant 500metres away due to them crying, they ooffered them a free babysitter which they turned down.

Kate mentioned Madeleine asking why they had not come the night before when she and Sean were crying. Kate then said she wondered if it was when they were being bathed or put to bed.
This comment begats the following questions.

If kate and gerry were in the apartment, they would have heard them crying and gone to see why.
If it was when they were being bathed by either kate or gerry they would have seen them crying and Madeleine would not have asked why they didn't come - therefore who was bathing the children? were kate and gerry in the apartment whilst they were being bathed ( in which case they would have heard the crying and gone and seen why) if they were in the apartment and heard nothing where were the children being bathed and by whom?

A social worker recognised david payne ( who looks like Robert Murat as well as a local estate agent) in relation to working with child abuse victims, she didn't recall why either as a witness or suspect) the Drs Gaspar also witnessed david and gerry discussing Madeleine and making inappropriate actions and comments as to what she would do. Allegations were made that payne was a paedophile, he has stayed silent on these claims whereas i would expect an innocent man to loudly declare such claims as false seeing as how they are one o the worst things you can call a man.

Gerry also made a comment in an interview that nothing could be as bad as the night they found her.

Cadaver dogs reacted not only to the car but also behind the sofa in the parets wardrobe and also to her black and white checked pants, a t shirt and cuddlecat ( kate claimed she had dealt with 6 dead bodies just prior to her trip ( not bad for being a locum gp works 1.5 days a week in a small practice)
Therer is also the fact the car stank an neighbors reported them leaving the trunk open all night, the smell in the car noticed by others was blamed on dirty diapers, rotting meat, Sean like seabass ( apparantly it smells like cadaverine) and sweaty sandals which is why the dogs reacted.

There was also a comment on gerry's blog before it wwas deleted that he dumped the apartment freezer bcause it broke down and he bought a new one.
Now if i was on vacation and the freezer broke down i would call th owner and report it and have them replace it not buy a new one out my own pocket.
He deleted the comment when readers picked up on it and commented on it.
They also launered the curtains which were still damp when the police turned up.

The report by the ex cop claiming she was abducted by someone wanting a child makes no logical sense.
In every case of a woman ( it is invariably a woman) who abducts a child to care for the child is newborn or sometimes still in the womb, they fake pregnancy and then claim the newborn as their own.
I know of no case where they have taken a neasrly 4 yr old toddler. Why her and not one of the younger twins?

The mccanns also said the cadaver dogs werer wrong and cited a case in the states of a man who murdered his wife, the dogs indicated and were derided. It turns out the dogs were correct and he admitted killing his wife.

The tanner sighting is laughable as it changed initially from a bundle to a man with a blanket to a man carrying a child to a man carrying Madeleine.

Also gerry and Jez Wilkins never saw her even though it was a deserted, silent street and she had to walk round them.
Gerry says he saw them in their beds and made no mention of open windows and shutters or light , yet tanner saw this man walking away.
Metal shutters make a heck of a racket and everyone would have heard them being moved . Kate claims she saw the windows and shutters open with the curtains flapping yet when the PJ arrived the window and shutters were closed ( only kates prints were found on the shutters)
Intial reports from their family said the shutters were smashed and the front door hanging off as told them via gerry. When this was proven not to be the case there was much back tracking.

The twins slept through all the noise of adults screaming , shouting and running around yet the mccanns refused to have them taken to hospital for a check to see if they had been molested or drugged, waiting over 3 months to have them tested ( they initally claimed the twins were deep sleepers then gerry adn mitted in his mockumentary that maybe the twins had been sedated.

Madeleine died in that aprtment sometime during the week.
The mccanns could't report it as they would have faced not only neglect and abuse charges but also a possible murder charge, they would also lose their licences to practice.

Kate offered to take a polygraph yet when it was offered backtracked claiming it wasn't 100% reliable and couldn't be used in court.
If they were innocent it would show them as such, the only reason she didn't take it is it would show her guilt.

They sued the ex lead detective to ban his book , won the first round and lost on appeal, they were told to return the 10,000 books with in 10 days, that was months ago i am not sure if they have returned them or not.

They happily sue or threaten to sue anyone who disagrees with their version of events. (carter-rucking them)

They did a mockumentary to counteract Goncalo Amarals one. It was supposed to show their version of ewhat happened that night, instead it turned into a happy family programme, the actress who played kate was completely cut from the mockumentary as , in gerry's own words, her story was totally unbelievable.

All their interviews, statements, etc can be found here

Kate mccann still has 48 questions she needs to answer, both they and the rest of the tapas 7 refused to do a reconstruction. why would innocent parents refuse to co-operate in the search for their child.
They never physically searched , kate told us this, they came up with excuses as to why they refused to help.

The picture being held up of the man with the tash looks very like kate mccann wearing a fake moustache.

The mccanns know what happened to Madeleine, they know she died in their apartment, they had to hide her body and claim abdutions since they faced serious time in portugal plus the loss of their licence to practice.

time and time again they demand help saying someone somewhere has the key to the crime, they have the one piece of information forgetting to mention kate has 48 pieces of the puzzle.

In gerry's own words nothing could be as bad as the night they found her.

Their behavior was suspicious to the local police with them sitting on the bed not moving, then the teatrical wailing on their knees by the bed and also gerry throwing himself to the ground in front of the police howling. ( i wonder was was happening that gerry had to distract them)

The hired lawyers immediately and spin doctors, they also pulled in favors from the then labor government which meant the PJ were restricted in their help and even now there are files that won't be released because it might affect relations between portugal and the uk.

Several diplomats who exressed unease about the mccanns were demoted or moved to another country, the labor gov't sent their own spin doctor to help the mccanns - clarance mitchell

kate once claimed there was no book on how to bhave in such a case, there is it is called years of experience.
Inocent people act a certain way, they co-operate fully, take polys, do reconstruction and generally harrass the police day and night to see if they have made any advances or to give them info they might have forgotten.

Guilty people don't co-operate, they hide behind lawyers, they refuse polygraphs, they blame everyone else for what happened, they claim they are good/responsible parents, they don't do reconstructions, they say little to nothing to the police, they start funds demanding money to support the family. The missing child is not a priority, covering their butts is.

Look at cases like missing Ayla Reynolds, Lisa Irving, Hailey Dunn, Haleigh cummings, Jahessye Shockley, Sky metalwar, Kiesha Abrahams, Zahra Baker and so on all claimed to have been abducted from their beds ( car in Sky's case) yet evidence shows the parents or family member murdered the child.

If you can't ignore the evidence against you, deride it, call it junk science, think of some strange reason for it being there or balme someone else.

Madeleine McCann's Grave Found, Claims South African Land Baron Stephen Birch

A South African real estate developer claims to have found the gravesite of Madeleine McCann.

Self-styled investigator Stephen Birch says he used a ground penetrating radar device -- a tool that that uses radar pulses to x-ray the subsurface -- to locate the body of the missing British girl.

Maddie search shrouded in controversy

July 14 2012 at 11:59am

By Kowthar Solomons and Kashiefa Ajam

The Saturday Star can today reveal for the first time the scan that Cape Town property developer Stephen Birch handed over to British and Portuguese authorities, which he claims proves that Madeleine McCann’s tiny body was buried on the property of former suspect Robert Murat.

A video showing Birch using a georadar machine, allegedly in Murat’s garden at Casa Liliana, is now circulating on the web, including on YouTube. In the interview with Portuguese TV station, Expresso TV, he said: “Maddie died on May 3, 2007 and she was put into the ground that same day.”

Yard chief suggests Madeleine probe may be wound down

Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, has indicated that the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann may be wound down.

3:21PM BST 24 Aug 2012

Scotland Yard is to ask David Cameron whether the Government will continue to fund the inquiry into the missing child, who was last seen in her parents' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.

The Met opened a new inquiry, Operation Grange, 15 months ago at the request of Mr Cameron. The Government has provided an 'open cheque' into the review of the case. The inquiry has 28 homicide detectives and seven civilian staff working full-time and is thought to have cost £2.5m so far.

Madeleine McCann 'seen with German family on flight'. Could this be the missing girl?

By Kelly Rose Bradford, Aug 31, 2012

Police are said to be investigating a possible sighting of missing Madeleine McCann on a plane flying from Ibiza to Munich.

German businessman Frank Bode, 42, took a picture of the young girl on board the flight who he claimed was British, resembled Madeleine, and was in the care of a German family.

He was so sure the girl was Madeleine that he contacted the police and was quizzed at length by Scotland Yard detective about the sighting.

Newly Reported Sightings of Madeleine McCann Fuel Interest in the Missing Girl

Aug 28, 2012 4:15 AM EDT

Abducted in 2007, when she was 4, the missing British girl is still a cause célèbre, with new witnesses swearing they’ve seen her and Scotland Yard still on the case, writes Barbie Latza Nadeau.

Kate and Gerry McCann hold an age-progressed police image of their daughter during a news conference to mark the 5th anniversary of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, on May 2, 2012 in London, England. (Dan Kitwood / Getty Images)

snipped:

According to the Olive Press, an English newspaper published in Spain, German tourist John Bode saw the McCann lookalike on a flight. He says she was traveling with a German family, but that she spoke with a British accent. He told the Spanish newspaper that the family caught his attention because of their odd behavior. The two sons–presumably the young girl’s brothers–were holding on to her as if to keep her from running away.

snipped:

He then snapped a picture, which does bear a slight resemblance to the missing child. Whether it was McCann or not, Bode’s sighting does jibe with similar stories. In May, Karen Sissal, a resident of Gibraltar, said she had seen a girl that looked just like McCann at a campground on the Portuguese-Spanish border just days after the child went missing.

snipped:

The latest Madeleine sighting comes at a particularly sensitive moment in the case. In April, Scotland Yard announced that they would be reinvestigating the case after an initial survey of the 100,000-plus page Portuguese criminal dossier. British detectives found nearly 200 lost leads, including numerous sightings of the young girl in the days after her disappearance, that had never been followed up.

Is this a photo of Madeleine McCann?

August 28, 2012
By: Jerrie Dean

Is the photo (see bottom left) taken by Frank Bode, Madeleine McCann? Bode, 42, believes it is. Bode was returning home to Germany earlier this month aboard a Lufthansa flight from Ibiza to Munich, when he saw a girl on the plane that reminded him of Madeleine. So much so, he took a picture of her.

Is this Maddeleine McCann

BRITISH cops were last night probing a possible sighting of Madeleine McCann — on a holiday jet from Ibiza to Munich.
Tourist Frank Bode, 42, said he saw a girl resembling Maddie with a German family.

The businessman took a blurry picture of the youngster who he said was British and did not seem to fit in with the family.

He was so convinced it was Maddie — who vanished in Portugal in 2007 days before her fourth birthday — that he immediately contacted “Find Madeleine” investigators in the UK.

Scotland Yard cops then spoke to him at great length about what he saw and are following up his claims.

German Mr Bode — who saw the girl at Spain’s Ibiza airport as he returned home from a break earlier this month — said: “My intuition told me the youngster, who was seven to ten years old, could be Madeleine.

“She didn’t seem to fit with her family at all. Her father was clearly German, as were her two brothers — both around ten to 12 years old — but her mother appeared to be British.

"They were all speaking German — except for the girl, who I heard speaking British English.”

The printing firm sales boss took his snap on a transit bus taking passengers to the plane.

And while on the two-hour Lufthansa flight to Munich he sat close to the family and kept an eye on the girl.

Mr Bode said: “The two boys were touching her strangely and the girl seemed out of place — nervous and stuttering.

"Her mother, who bore no resemblance to her, was a strange woman who didn’t talk on the entire trip.

I was never very interested in the Maddie case but I felt something was up. I showed the photo to some of my friends who agreed it could be her.”

Kate and Gerry McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said last night: “Kate and Gerry are aware of this information, as are the British police.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed they had received new information from Mr Bode and said: “We are aware, but we are not providing a running commentary on this case.”

A major Scotland Yard review of the case was launched in May last year after a request from Home Secretary Theresa May supported by David Cameron.

Maddie — who would be nine now — went missing from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz. The Portuguese investigation into the case was formally shelved in July 2008.

OK let's look at this.

He was so convinced it was Maddie — who vanished in Portugal in 2007 days before her fourth birthday — that he immediately contacted “Find Madeleine” investigators in the UK When exactly did he contact them? whilst he was on the bus?
Whilst he was on the plane?
On his arrival back in the UK?
When he got home having unpacked and had a cuppa?

He doesn't tell us so we can't assume.

“My intuition told me the youngster, who was seven to ten years old, could be Madeleine."
Intuition and not looks, accent or pleas for help?
Could be not is?
Who did he call?
Who are the “Find Madeleine” investigators in the UK
Are we talking the mccanns coldline or did he dial 999?

“She didn’t seem to fit with her family at all. Her father was clearly German, as were her two brothers — both around ten to 12 years old — but her mother appeared to be British"
How was the father clearly german?
Did he speak german?
Did he wear leiderhosen?
Was he wearing a hitler moustache and eating a bratwurst?
How did the boys look clearly german?
Language or accents?
Clothing?
An urge to wear leiderhosen?
Complaining about us beating them in the 1966 world cup?

How did the mother appear to be british?
Why british rather than english, irish, scottish or welsh?
She would have had an accent which would have given her away.
Was she drinking a cuppa whilst eating fish and chips?
How does he know the mother was british when he says they were all speaking german?

Why was the girl speaking british english (as opposed to what? american english, australian english? scottish, irish or welsh english?)
Did she have an accent?

He sat close to the family on the 2 hr Lufthansa flight to Munich so i would assume there would be a few germans on it.

Why did he not alert the cabin crew as to his suspicions? that way LE could have been waiting when the plane landed to ask a few probing questions.

Mr Bode said: “The two boys were touching her strangely and the girl seemed out of place — nervous and stuttering".
How does he mean touching her strangely?
Where were they touching her?
How did she react when touched?
If they were touching her inappropriately again, why did he not alert the cabin crew?
Why did he not alert the parents
I would be nervous and stuttering if i had a strange man staring at me for two hours and i was a child.

"Her mother, who bore no resemblance to her, was a strange woman who didn’t talk on the entire trip."
How does he know the mother was british if she never spoke the whole trip?
How does he know they all spoke german except for the girl if the mother never spoke the whole trip.
Was she using telepathy?
What was strange about her ?
Was it because she never spoke whilst on the trip yet he could tell she was british.
I bet it was the union jack costume, or maybe she was a pearly queen.
How does he know she might not be the girl's bio mother.
She bore no resemblance to the mother yet he makes no mention of any resemblance to the brothers or the father.
How does he know she isn't perhaps a stepmother or the father isn't a step dad and the boys step brothers?
Not all kids look like their parents.
What if she was an IVF baby from a donor egg and /or sperm?
How does he know she wasn't adopted or a foster child?
how does he know she wasn't a relative??

"I was never very interested in the Maddie case but I felt something was up. I showed the photo to some of my friends who agreed it could be her.”
Anything in the negative is sensitive,
Not only does he claim he was not interested, he weakens the statement with the addition of very interested, indicating thus there was interest.
But negates the previous sentence which is non interest.
He was interested in the case.
He felt something was up but doesn't tell us what the something was.
If he had suspicions why did he wait rather than alert the cabin crew as to his concerns?

When did he show some of his friends the photo?
Before or after he called the 'investigators'?

This smacks of some man wanting his 15 mins of fame and a nice paycheck for his story.
I don't think there is any big money reward now since the NOTW was the one who put it up ( and is now long defunct)
Every time there has been an alleged sighting the subject has always waited before alerting LE rather than contacting them immediately.
I recall one waiting till she got home from a vacation before calling in, it turned out to be not her.
summer always results in alleged sightings al of which are fake.
I would be interested to know if he has contacted the mccanns directly or is known to them directly or indirectly.
I am also aware that sightings have been bought by investigators.

Madeleine died during her vacation in PDL.
Cadaver dogs reacted behind the sofa, to laundered curtains (they were still damp when the PJ arrived the night she vanished) to the parents wardrobe and also cuddle cat, kates checkered pants, a child's red t shirt and the hire car.
Blood and fluids were found in the apt. and in the trunk of the hire car. they showed inconclusive, they couldn't prove it was from madeleine but they couldn't disprove it either.

Latest Madeleine McCann Sighting Is Bogus

September 02, 2012 11:55 AM EDT

A recent so-called "sighting" of Madeleine McCann seems as bogus as any sighting of Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. The blurry image captured by a German tourist depicts a very young blonde child with different facial structure and shape of the missing British child. Anyone with eyes in their heads that is familiar with this child's case can clearly see that this latest sighting is just bogus.

Sky News | 2 VIDEOS at link | Madeleine McCann Police Probe Possible Suspect

British detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are releasing a new picture of a possible suspect.

4:11pm UK, Wednesday 09 October 2013

Detectives are to issue an e-fit image of a man seen near the holiday apartment from where the then three-year-old vanished in 2007.

{Snipped}

The image of the possible new suspect is expected to form a crucial part of fresh appeals at the beginning of next week.

Police will give some idea of what witnesses have said about his behaviour on Monday.

{Snipped}

Her disappearance is to be the subject of a Crimewatch appeal on Monday to try to produce new witnesses in the case.

It will also be aired in Holland and Germany - where many tourists in the Algarve come from.

There appears to be some doubt as to whether it will be shown in Portugal.

I have not stayed up on this case.
You present compelling info convincing me she is not alive.
So the parents are biding their time, trying the public sympathy, and blowing smoke screens.
IMO, something did not smell right when the parents repeatedly abandoned their children to party knowing the little tykes would be crying. And the parents knowingly left the door open to provide the alibi. And they did this in a country in which the child did not know the language. Case stinks.

From Sept 2007:

" ... When evidence was found in the trunk of the McCann's rental car in Portugal suggesting the girl had been transported in there, it was tested and came back as positive for sedatives and Madeleine's DNA.

Police in England have been ordered to seize the mother's diary, the father's computer, and a soft stuffed toy of Madeleines that was "left behind" when the child came up missing.

Police suspect the parents gave her an over dose of sleeping pills....."

Mirror News | Madeleine McCann detectives focus on crucial 45 minutes from night youngster disappeared

Officers believe the period immediately before Maddie was checked by her father Gerry, not after, could now hold the key

By Justin Penrose, Matthew Drake | 13 Oct 2013 08:48

{Snipped}

They believe her kidnappers may have been lurking in or near the McCanns’ holiday apartment as Gerry went to check on his children at around 9.15pm.

Detectives have always focused on the period after Maddie was checked by her father – but now believe the 45 minutes before that could hold the key to catching those who abducted her.
