Kate McCann reveals she's "exhausted" as renewed hope of finding daughter Madeleine means she can't sleep

14 Nov 2013 22:50

The 45-year-old gave an emotional insight into the horrific traumas of being the parent of a lost child - saying the unbearable pain made her want to "disappear herself"

Kate McCann has told how the renewed hunt for missing daughter Madeleinehas given her renewed hope, but also left her exhausted.

And the 45-year-old gave an emotional insight into the horrific traumas of being the parent of a lost child.

Kate said the pain was so unbearable, “all you really want to do is disappear yourself”.

The former GP told how she has endured a “tricky couple of months” and apologised for being “a bit sleep-deprived” when she spoke at a Missing People charity fundraising gala.

IMO, it appears the McCanns are going to sue the investigator/author,

Court Orders Madeleine McCann Detective Goncalo Amaral to Reveal Earnings from Conspiracy Book

November 20, 2013

A judge in Lisbon has ordered Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral to reveal how much he earned from a book he wrote, claiming Madeleine McCann was dead and her parents were to blame. Concalo Amaral must hand over receipts showing how much he raked in from sales of his 2008 book The Truth of the Lie. The order was made during Amaral's trial for libel. Kate and Gerry McCann are suing him for £1m over defamatory claims against them. The producers of a TV documentary must also reveal how much Amaral, 56, was paid to take part in it, the court ruled. wrote:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/523796/20131120/madeleine-mccann-concalo-amaral-truth-lie-praia.htm

This appears to be smoke screen distraction, IMO.
Easy solution would be to produce the child or explain the blood in the vacation rental... Instead, they are going to act all indignant at being accused (but not concerned with missing child) in the hope of making this an international mess...

McCann v Gonçalo Amaral Libel Trial in Lisbon - Day 9

Lisbon - Tuesday 19 Nov 2013

All lawyers are present. VCFilmes/Multimedia's lawyer is substituted by a lawyer who states that she took part in the Providência Cautelar (Injunction hearing).  Witnesses due to testify today are dismissed by defendants TVI, VC and Gonçalo Amaral and will no longer be required to give evidence.

The Judge starts the session by raising the issue of documents requested by the plaintiffs evidencing the value of royalties paid to Gonçalo Amaral. She reminds the Court that G&P's position is that the request is extemporaneous and illegal and that no other payment was received beyond that previously declared to the Court.  One such document relates to a request to Gonçalo Amaral to provide receipts X and Y specific to the period from 17 - 30 October 2008 and from 6 - 30 November 2009. The Judge adds that any others are of no consequence since G&P has proven that no other royalties were paid to Gonçalo Amaral.

The Judge reminds the Court of the principle that when a Party declares to another Party that a requested document does not exist or is not in their possession, the legal remedy is not for the pursuer to make a further request but to prove through whatever means that the respondent is being untruthful.  The Judge therefore grants a request by the plaintiffs that receipts be provided as previously requested since the defender has failed to produce the information sought.

Amaral in Madeleine McCann TV debate

Created: 17 November 2013

The Portuguese public now has the opportunity to watch a programme about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, broadcast in an attempt to jog people’s memories.

The CMTV (channel 8 on Meo) will broadcast on Sunday night at 22.55 the special programme which aims to reconstruct events on the night of May 3rd 2007, the last time Madeleine was known to be alive in Praia da Luz, Lagos.

The programme was shot at the Ocean Club resort in Luz where the McCann family was staying on holiday, and lasts eight minutes during which time viewers can follow what may have happened on the night when the girl, then aged three, disappeared from the room where she slept with two twin brothers.

'CM newspaper' programme: Maddie Case CMTV

After CMTV screened a reconstruction about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, only in Portugal, there were many reactions that multiplied themselves.

Transcript

With thanks to Astro for transcript/translation

Anchor: After CMTV screened a reconstruction about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, there were many reactions, that multiplied themselves, mainly because of the various contradictions in the witnesses' statements.

Voiceover: The case dates back to the 3rd of May of 2007. Six years later, several inconsistencies and contradictions are counted, which contribute to the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Madeleine. After the screening of CMTV's reconstruction relating to the little girl's disappearance, there were many reactions that multiplied themselves, mainly about the various contradictions that were raised.

One of the inconsistencies has to do with the time of the visit that was done by a friend to the McCann couple. David Payne would have met Gerry at 6.30 p.m., and only afterwards went to see Kate. Until today, it is not known how long the visit took: According to Gerry, Payne was at the location for over half an hour; according to Kate, the visit lasted little over 30 seconds.

Gonçalo Amaral: This is a figure [person] that, I used to say, that is enigmatic, and who was not well investigated. Not a lot is known about this person.

Voiceover: A mysterious man with a profile that is linked to indications of inadequate behaviours towards children. He even used to bathe the daughters of the friends that he spent holidays with.

To CMTV, Gonçalo Amaral and Francisco Moita Flores, former Judiciary Police inspectors, state that this is one of the gaps in the process.

Like a dog with a bone I am chewing this up.
It still bothers me Gerry's comments prior to arrival. His friend telling him to cheer up and he gives grumpy replies. Again, who spends the time and the money to go on holiday and chooses to be angry about it?

Forgive me if some of these vids have already been shared.
I find these to be of the best info.

@29:00 The reporter states re the clothing taken from the parents, the dog hit upon Kate's clothing. It goes so fast I can't recall if it was the blood dog or Edie, the cadaver dog who hit upon Kate's clothing. Early in the vid, Kate stated their were problems because of language barriers... and then she is heard speaking clearly in Portuguese, taking questions and answering them. Police suspect the McCanns as the witnesses statements did not match; further, why were they checking on the kids every 10=15 minutes? Tanner's body language: she repeatedly shakes her head in the negative while professing specific details. I can't help but recall the reports from others and the parents of the child crying and crying for hours the night before. Why was she crying? Was she being injured?? How is it the parents, when told, could still leave this little one alone??

What if, after the death of the child, the parents now stay in the apartment with her May 3 up to the time her body was removed? I find it strange Kate spent so much of the afternoon with the children as she did not appear to do that earlier in the trip.

I just do not believe that the McCanns had anything to do with Madelaine's disappearance at all, only that they left their children alone to have a meal at the resturant, so did all the other parents with them.      I still believe that Madelaine is still alive somewhere and I do hope that someone comes forward to tell the truth.     These people have been tortured enough, yes they have made strange comments but if we were going through what they have we would probably be the same.
I pray that someone that knows something feels the guilt and comes forward with the information.

Madeleine McCann: Detective's thanks after 5,000 viewers contact police after TV appeals across Europe

Several holidaymakers who were in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007 when the little girl vanished have made contact with his team

By Paul Cockerton | | 28 Nov 2013 22:25

DCI Andy Redwood of the Metropolitan Police

A senior detective investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has thanked the public for thousands of messages received in the wake of recent television appeals.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said several holidaymakers who were in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007 when the little girl vanished had made contact with his team.

British police launched their own investigation into Madeleine's disappearance earlier this year, called Operation Grange, and recently made renewed appeals for information on television in the UK, Holland and Germany.

Appearing on the BBC's Crimewatch programme tonight, Mr Redwood said : "The media appeals produced a fantastic response from the public in all three countries with a total of 3,500 calls and messages in the UK, 850 to Germany, and 650 in Holland.

~Snipped~

Yesterday Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said British and Portuguese police should join together as one team in their investigations into what happened to Madeleine.

The Commissioner said: ''One thing we'd like to see in the future is a joint investigation team which comes under the European community.

~Snipped~

"It is a possibility legally, and we're working together at a political level, and at a police and judicial level, to see how we can construct that.

United Kingdom

The United Kingdom (UK), which is made up of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, does not have a national police force. Instead, there are 44 geographic forces in England and Wales, and a single force in Scotland and in Northern Ireland.

Each force is led by a Chief Constable who is accountable to law, to the Home Secretary and to local democratic oversight. Democratic oversight is provided by elected Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) in most areas and by the Mayor’s Office in London.

Specialist police forces that work alongside the geographic forces include the British Transport Police, the Ministry of Defence Police and the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

INTERPOL Manchester

The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for the UK is part of the National Crime Agency (NCA), a powerful new body of operational crime fighters with the responsibility of leading the UK’s fight to cut serious and organized crime. The NCA addresses national threats and incorporates the functions of numerous former UK organizations, agencies and units in order to:

•Tackle serious and organized crime;
•Strengthen UK borders;
•Fight fraud and cybercrime;
•Protect children and young people.

The NCA also provides a range of support services to police forces and law enforcement agencies across the country, including the services provided by INTERPOL Manchester.

Mission

INTERPOL Manchester shares the INTERPOL vision and mission. It fights international crime through the coordination and provision of specialist support to investigations and uses INTERPOL channels to build effective partnerships between the UK police forces and law enforcement agencies worldwide.

INTERPOL

Portugal

Law enforcement services in Portugal are provided by five different bodies:

The Judicial Police – called “Polícia Judiciária” (PJ) in Portuguese.

Mandate: prevention, detection and investigation of violent, organized and financial crime.

Supervised by the Public Prosecutors Office, a body of autonomous magistrates, the PJ is part of the Ministry of Justice.

National Republican Guard – called “Guarda Nacional Republicana” (GNR) in Portuguese.

Mandate: ensure public order and investigate violent and non-organized crime in rural areas.

The GNR is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Public Security Police – called “Polícia Segurança Pública” (PSP) in Portuguese

Mandate: ensure public order and investigate non-organized and violent crime in urban areas.

The PSP is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Immigration and Border Agency – called “Serviço Estrangeiros e Fronteiras” (SEF) in Portuguese.

Mandate: responsible for border control and the prevention of illegal immigration. Part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the SEF is also responsible for issuing entry and residence permits, as well as matters relating to deportation and asylum.

Portuguese Maritime Police – called “Polícia Marítima” (PM) in Portuguese. Part of the Ministry of Defence, the PM is the national naval service which patrols all Portuguese harbours.

INTERPOL Lisbon

The INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) for Portugal sits within the International Cooperation Unit of the Judicial Police. INTERPOL Lisbon liaises with domestic police services and judicial authorities for international requests requiring action. It also serves as a police platform for international investigations involving Portugal.

INTERPOL Lisbon is headed by a senior criminal police investigator who is assisted by three chief inspectors in charge of operational groups:

•Central Unit;
•Police Cooperation Unit;
•Judicial Cooperation Unit.

The NCB is staffed by 15 inspectors who are able to communicate in a wide range of languages. They are experts in many fields of international crime fighting, including:

•Criminal information analysis;
•Law and data protection;
•Firearm identification and tracing;
•Violent crime;
•Organized crime;
•Financial crime.

Madeleine McCann: Portuguese police in Algarve 'no help to hunt'

A friend of Kate and Gerry McCann said: “The Policia Judiciara are not pulling their weight and are almost working against the Met"

By Tom Pettifor | 28 Nov 2013 01:20

Portuguese police hunting for Madeleine McCann’s kidnapper are not “pulling their weight,” a source close her parents said yesterday.

Fears that tension between the country’s Policia Judiciara and Scotland Yard is mounting comes as Britain’s top cop called on the two forces to unite in a joint investigation.

The Met Police’s Bernard Hogan-Howe’s plea is “a polite but public expression of frustration", Kate and Gerry McCann’s close pal believes.

The source added: “They can’t see this ever happening else it would have happened six and a half years ago!

“It seems the PJ are not pulling their weight and are almost working against the Met!

“If Mr Hogan-Howe is at pains to stress that both investigations should run jointly, and not in parallel, it shows his frustration that the present system to find Madeleine and whoever took her is not working.”

Germans give hope of clue in search for Madeleine McCann

DETECTIVES hunting for Madeleine McCann have been given information about two German or Dutch-speaking men seen acting suspiciously before she was kidnapped in Portugal.

By: James Murray and Allan Hall
Published: Sun, December 1, 2013

The potentially strong leads came after Kate and Gerry McCann made a direct appeal on a German crime show, called Case Files XY...Unsolved, in October.

They were joined by Scotland Yard’s Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood, who asked German viewers for help.

Calls came in from people who had been at the Ocean Club resort at Praia da Luz on the Algarve at the same time as the McCann family, on May 3, 2007. The callers had information about the German or Dutch speaking men, but it is not known if they were able to provide names.

Madeleine McCann parents cannot give evidence at detective's libel trial, judge rules

In the book Amaral, the former chief investigator on the case, claimed Madeleine died in the family's Algarve holiday apartment and accused the parents of faking her abduction. The McCanns say Amaral became rich by promoting his warped theories after being thrown off the investigation in October 2007, five months after Madeleine went missing. The judge also ruled Amaral cannot give evidence in the civil case, being heard at the Palace of Justice in Lisbon. wrote:

This is such hocus-pocus I must ask: Can we talk?

Using a small, teeny bit of intellect I must ask:
1. Who attempts a burglary and then decides to NOT burglarize the every property they have supposedly gained entry to?

2. Who, having gained entry to a property with the intent to steal, does NOT steal a SINGLE THING?

3. Who changes the plan to now steal a child but does NOT ask ransom?

4. And... who would leave blood evidence of said child behind in TWO locations BUT hide the blood in the living area by pushing the couch tight against a wall? And then "storing" the child's body in the parents' bedroom? AND, finally, CLEANS the blood up?

5. Why is there NO evidence of ANY intruder in the apartment? Not even a stray hair left on a door step?

6. IF there had been a stranger in the apartment, would the twins have not called out in alarm? Perhaps, hearing their sister fears as she confronted the stranger? The twins were sharing a room with the supposed child about to be abducted and were mere feet from her bed.

7. Why take the older child (who could possibly identify them) and leave the twins who could NOT identify them?

8. And last...
This is so absolutely ridiculous to even consider the man would enter the apartment with the intent of stealing the child and then BOLDLY walk down public street with the child in his arms! Surely, this would be intruder would have seen all the comings and goings as these people seemed intent on socializing with each other BUT constantly checking on the children every 15=30 minutes. Logic would have said they would have gathered in one of the apartments and have their respective drinks sent to the apartment... and the children would have been in the same apartment in one of the bedrooms.

They are wanting to give the appearance of being "party people" out for a goof time and still caring parents constantly checking on the children. Were they constantly checking on the kids while they were signing up for sailing lessons or tennis? No. They had their "lunch dates" and left the kids in the care of some "stranger" at the resort.
I do not accept the parents story of being "loving" parents... They were not.

The UK police's leading scenario is the thieves broke into the apartment, disturbed the young girl and fled with her in what was a burglary gone wrong, rather than earlier speculation she was targeted by paedophiles or child abductors. wrote:

IMO, this is just more distraction from the McCanns.
BTW, in every picture I have seen of the mother where the father is also present, she is always looking "demure" at the camera or at him. It is as if she is waiting for his lead on how to answer questions. Something odd about her behavior that is almost Stepford Wife like.

Thanks, CP.

What gets me is there is NO evidence of an attempted burglary.
Nothing was taken.
Nothing was ransacked.
Passports, IDs, purses/wallets, luggage... nothing gone.
And if the child had been accidentally killed while in the apartment, well, a burglar would rather do time for attempted burglary than murder of a child; he would not have carried a dead child in his arms let alone walked a public street carrying her. Besides, a dead child would not have linked him to a crime... But let's say this supposed burglar did kill the child and did take her with him for some unknown reason: Would he not have stuffed her little body into one of the many available suitcases in the apartment??? None was reported missing. And would a burglar not have taken an available suitcase and filled it with the "loot" from the apartment when he first broke in?After all, he could then appear just to be another traveler passing thru....

But none of that happened.

Three burglars? This is a joke.
IF there were three surely one would have been on the lookout and called on his cellphone to NOT hit that particular building at that particular time.... for JERRY MCCANN was standing OUTSIDE the building... and another of their party was passing !!!

Professional burglars do NOT take these absurd and needless risks.
They are looking for easy goods and easily fenced items.
Child abduction does not fit into this equation.
Let alone a child abduction (by a stranger) that leaves NO stranger evidence behind.

The time frame also does not fit the abduction theory....not if the adults are checking these kids every 15=30 minutes! It takes time to remove a child from a bed, an apartment and the building... and that is without time for the entry, scoping out any loose change, jewelry, passports, etc...

This is such hogwash. Appears the Brits are being pushed for answers so they are looking to find someone, anyone to blame. I am NOT buying this NEWEST and LATEST the Brits are putting out. They appear to be looking under every rock for the perps and the perps are not under the rocks: They are standing right in front of them!

Excellent commentary:

" ... Are we going to go after every petty criminal and thief in the world before the actual evidence is considered in this case? The original scent dog evidence and the parents' refusal to cooperate in the initial investigation should raise all the red flags in the world. So why aren't SY officials looking at them?

This week it's two more suspects, and next week it will be some other. Several people -- including a dead man who can'd even defend himself -- have been publicly named suspects in Madeleine McCann's disappearance (and likely death). Really, this entire investigation should be done to the tune of Benny Hill music. ..."

This does not speak well for the English higher-ups.
Although this story does not mention Maddy, I have to think of her...

"...The bombshell court document that claims Prince Andrew knew about billionaire friend's abuse of under-age girls

Document details conversation between solicitor and Virginia Roberts, 30
Ms Roberts regarded by prosecutors as 'victim' of financier Jeffrey Epstein
Epstein, 61, was jailed in 2008 for soliciting under-age girls for prostitution
He counted numerous celebrities, politicians and socialites as his friends
He was also on chummy terms with the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson
Ms Roberts claims that, aged 15, she was introduced to Prince three times
Document questions how much Duke knew about his friend's peccadillos ...."

" ...Sixty-one-year-old Epstein achieved infamy in 2008 when he was jailed for soliciting under-age girls for prostitution. His downfall scandalised America due to both the high-profile circles in which he had moved, and the audacity of his crimes.

The billionaire had counted numerous celebrities, politicians and socialites as friends, including President Bill Clinton, businessman Donald Trump and supermodel Naomi Campbell....."

McCann Cops Are Probably Looking For a Body: Ex-Detective Chief

By Henry Austin

A police dig in the Portuguese vacation resort where Madeleine McCann went missing is likely to be looking for a body, a former Detective Chief Inspector with London’s Metropolitan Police said Wednesday.

“They could be looking for clothing, it could be weapons or some sort of other evidence, but in the case of the disappearance of a child the most obvious explanation would be that they have something that suggests it’s worth looking for a body,” said Peter Kirkham, who worked on numerous homicide investigations during his 21-year police career.

Madeleine Police Arrive In Portugal For Digs

Forensics officers will use ground penetrating radar equipment to aid the search at three Praia da Luz sites.

12:49am UK, Thursday 08 May 2014

Scotland Yard detectives have arrived in Portugal to oversee the excavation of a number of sites as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The digs for evidence are to take place at several locations in the resort where the youngster vanished in 2007.

Forensics officers are due to use ground penetrating radar equipment to aid the search at three sites in Praia da Luz.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police have also identified three potential suspects they want to talk to, not necessarily around Madeleine's disappearance, but who had been involved in break-ins in the area.

However, they have reportedly been refused permission by Portuguese authorities to search the homes of these burglary suspects, who used to work at the Ocean Complex at the time Madeleine vanished.

Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt, in Praia da Luz, said: "That's a blow for Scotland Yard."

Missing Madeleine: Alleged Online Troll Found Dead

LONDON — Oct 6, 2014, 9:41 AM ET
By JILL LAWLESS Associated Press

FILE - In this Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 file photo, Gerry and Kate McCann arrive to testify at the Leveson inquiry at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London. A woman who was accused of sending Internet abuse to the parents of missing girl Madeleine McCann has been found dead in a hotel room in Leicester, central England, on Saturday Oct. 4, 2014. Her death has revived debate about media responsibility and how best to respond to online “trolls.” (AP Photo/Lefteris Pitarakis, File)

A woman who was accused of sending Internet abuse to the parents of missing girl Madeleine McCann has been found dead in a hotel room. Her death has revived debate about media responsibility and how best to respond to online "trolls."

Television channel Sky News identified 63-year-old Brenda Leyland as a Twitter user who had attacked Kate and Gerry McCann under the name "sweepyface."

Last week, a Sky News reporter confronted Leyland — who lived in the same county as the McCanns — on camera about the alleged abuse. She replied that she was entitled to send the tweets.

Police confirmed that Leyland's body was found in a hotel room near Leicester in central England on Saturday.

"Ms. Leyland's death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner," police said. "Officers acting on behalf of the coroner will look into the circumstances surrounding and prior to her unexpected death."

While the woman, Brenda, may have been a "troll" she was doing nothing different than we are doing in demanding a fast, fair and just investigate into the disappearance of this child. Too much does NOT add up!

I have serious doubts re her reported suicide. It is just a bit too convenient for the parents of Madeleine. They are the ones who need investigation and they are skating.

Maddie breakthrough: Curtains may hold DNA clue in hunt for Madeleine McCann

DETECTIVES hunting for missing Madeleine McCann believe curtains in the Portuguese holiday flat where she was snatched might provide vital clues.
Published: Mon, October 27, 2014

British officers hope that new tests on the fabric will reveal traces of DNA which could identify her kidnapper.

They believe he may have touched them as he took three year-old Madeleine from her bed at the Ocean Club resort in Praia da Luz and climbed out of the window with her.

The curtains have been sealed in an evidence file at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in the Portuguese city of Coimbra since 2007.

But Scotland Yard has sent an urgent request to Portuguese police asking for their permission to re-examine them. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood and his team are hoping the fabric will be preserved enough to contain clues.

Brenda Leyland

Following Carole Malone’s article of October 5, we would like to make clear that Brenda Leyland did not send any texts directly to the McCanns as stated, she tweeted her abusive messages with a hashtag #mccanns, which would enable anyone interested in the McCanns to read them.

I call BS on this marvelous inspiration. Too late, too simplistic for the magical hat production. They should leave magic for the real magicians out there and not try this.... at home. What they are hoping to do is to create an illusion they are actually doing something when in fact, IMO, they are doing nothing but waiting for public interest to fade with time. They have IGNORED or DISCREDITED all the REAL evidence first presented. Now why did they do that? Well, we have heard of their powerful connections to both the Royal Family and the the rich politicians on England...and some of those politicians HAVE successfully been exposed in media for child porn, child molestation, etc.. What better cover than two doctors, one being a "loving" pediatrician ? Parents who routinely medicate their children for bedtime and parental convenience are NOT loving PEOPLE let alone loving parents! They are only concerned with their OWN immediate interests!!!

Don't drink the Kool-aid! No

Any DNA found on the curtains at this time I would find suspect. Who knows when they were last washed, what housekeepers or guests or pets touched the curtains. And water does NOT wash away DNA !!! When were the drapes last cleaned?

I would like to see pics of the parents. Updated ones. I would like to see if they appear drugged out, worn out, or just getting on with their "jolly" good lives. drunken Bozo2

IMO, the only reason the adults were supposedly checking the McCann kids was to make sure NO ONE had entered the apt and found the child dead. She may have been abused and molested and then killed. (Didn't one of the men reportedly not go out partying because he was ill? Check him.) If not, then perhaps they were concerned because they had OVER MEDICATED the child to make her more compliant with the sexual demands of the adult. Checking her to make sure she was still alive. The blood stains tell me she did NOT easily comply with the adult(s). After her death, her body was stored in the parents' bedroom closet on a shelf... I am sure they were trying to figure out what to do and protect this death from discovery... hence, the "lookout" and the repeated "checks"... Face it. As parents, did you EVER check your child every few minutes when they were WELL ? And if they were asleep, would you risk waking them by continually checking on them? No! I would bring a child into my bed if I needed to continually monitor them... I would check every thirty minutes IF there had been a high fever...And the time three of mine ALL had strep throat at the same time, I tossed them into one bed, I slept with them, I monitored them, and told hubby to help himself as I was not able to tend to his meals, etc... My hands were full!

A parent does NOT cast away from a child who is in need....Certainly, not a loving parent.

I am curious as to whether these parties still hang out together? Did they split the friendships after the incident as in running from the scene of the crime for fear of getting caught in their evil doings?

Madeleine McCann latest: Police check alibi of chef who 'claimed he killed Maddie'

A BRITON who allegedly claimed that he killed Madeleine McCann before knifing a woman is being investigated by police.

Published: 00:01, Sun, January 18, 2015

Shane Leighton claimed he killed Madeleine

Shane Leighton, 22, is being held in a Portuguese prison, accused of stabbing Clara Corrigan 17 times last May.

During the attack, Clara, 39, alleges the trainee chef boasted that he killed three year-old Madeleine, who vanished on May 3, 2007, from Praia da Luz on the Algarve.

When he allegedly attacked Clara, Leighton was living with his grandparents, Sylvia and Barry Leighton, in Albuefeira, also on the Algarve.

Detectives have been checking his alibi, that he was a 15-year-old schoolboy in Britain when Madeleine vanished.

Madeleine McCann latest: are police any closer to knowing the truth?

After a new detective takes over the helm of the investigation, Gordon Rayner looks at the latest news on the truth about what happened to Madeleine McCann

Madeleine McCann vanished without trace in May 2007 Photo: PA

By  Gordon Rayner, Chief Reporter
11:24AM GMT 02 Feb 2015

In the eight years since Madeleine McCann went missing from a holiday apartment in Portugal, myriad theories about what happened to her have taken root, but only one fact remains uncontested: that she was reported missing at 10.14pm on the evening of Thursday, May 3, 2007.

It was at that point, when police were called, that the clock started ticking on the biggest missing persons investigation for decades, a search which remains very much active to this day.

Facts, the hard currency of any police investigation, have proved almost uniquely elusive; every sighting, every timing and every witness statement has been disputed in the years that have elapsed since.

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann quickly came under suspicion by Portuguese police, a development that the couple are certain meant vital clues were missed in the first hours and days after Madeleine’s disappearance.

Whoa....
From link above:

"......Late in 2011 an alleged, credible source in British intelligence communicated information that would seem to finally explain why the McCanns were given assistance from the highest echelons of the Establishment.

For almost five years, followers of the Madeleine McCann mystery have debated back and forth wondering why the British Establishment stepped in to assist the Tapas 9 in a way never seen before. There have been many missing British children. There have been missing British children abroad. Many Brits have found themselves in legal pickles abroad but they have never had the red carpet treatment. Not, that is, until the McCann Roadshow came along.

A vast array of former policemen spoke of the McCanns’ innocence without having full knowledge of the circumstances. Murdoch owned newspapers like the Sun and the News of the World fawned over Kate and Gerry. Private planes were brought in to ferry the McCanns around like they were superstars. Gerry was nominated for “Scot of the Year” and both he and his wife were on first name terms with two successive British Prime Ministers....."

http://truthformadeleine.com/2012/01/gerrys-tunnel-vision/

When the police file became public in the summer of 2008 we learned that the Portuguese Police were far from the bungling Keystone Cops they were made out to be. They were diligent, thorough, and they were hampered because of an interfering British Government. Evidence was withheld from the Portuguese. A semen sample suddenly turned into a saliva sample after the British Forensic Science Service looked at it. The samples were, in turn, destroyed by the FSS so the investigators have no chance of a second opinion. The McCanns’ financial and medical details were withheld by British government intervention. Bombshell testimony implicating Gerry McCann and David Payne as potential paedophiles was deliberately withheld from Portugal for about five months. ....."

".....McCann benefactors were scrutinized and their backgrounds explored in an effort to find out why these child-neglecting parents were being let off the hook so easily. There were obvious Freemason connections, pharmaceutical connections, paedophilia connections and hundreds of other possible reasons why the McCanns and their friends were not being investigated properly.

Despite all this, one thing was certain: Gerry McCann had the British Establishment over a barrel. He had some kind of explosive information that was ensuring freedom for him and his wife Kate. This information was so damning that it was to create a gross miscarriage of justice.

Poor little Madeleine was forgotten. The case became a battle against prosecution for Kate and Gerry.

The information received here at TFM is damning but credible. It explains a lot about the case but it requires more study. I can’t reveal the name or contact details of the source and the reader will have to take it for what it is.

The gist of the bombshell information received here is this: Gerry McCann is privy to information implicating the Royal Family in the murder of Princess Diana. This was his leverage. ...."

Have read somewhere very recently, that Gerry was put on the sex offenders list in 2002, have no idea if it’s true, but, given the Gaspar’s statements, I wouldn’t be surprised, I don’t think anything I read about these people (and I use the term very loosely) will surprise me ever again.

They are totally without any remorse, except not being there when Madeleine was abducted, and we don’t believe the abduction bollocks now. Whilst they’ve railroaded their abduction fantasy, tearing down everything and everyone who said different. They’ve lost people their livelihoods, shredded a ‘good copper’s’ reputation and integrity, (my highest respect comes to you Goncalo Amarel, you will be vindicated), lost people tourism, frightened other holiday-makers present past and future, implicated others who were entirely innocent, refused to act on police instructions, lied through their teeth, made pensioners and children part with money they didn’t really have, not to help search for Madeleine, but to pay for the best briefs in the country, whilst they paid their Mortgage and danced cheek to cheek, with another load of arseholes who call themselves the upper echelons, and our betters. I could go on all night. I know journalists have had bad press themselves on this, their hands may have been tied, but not their minds, they’ve got all this well covered, they’re just waiting for the shit to hit the fan, and it will, but not soon enough for me. ....."

Parents: Kate and Gerry McCann were hurt by a controversial book about Madeleine, a judge ruled

The former police chief who published astonishing claims that Kate and Gerry McCann faked their daughter Madeleine’s disappearance to cover up her death expects them to lose their libel battle against him, it was claimed today.

Goncalo Amaral is reported to have said the early rulings by the judge in the case suggested her verdict may be 'favourable' to him.

The 57-year-old told Portuguese television on Friday that Maria Emilia Melo e Castro’s indications so far led him to believe he would win the case, according to the Daily Star.

His comments came as a ruling emerged that the McCanns were hurt by the book written by Mr Amaral, who was tasked with finding the girl.

But the pain the couple feel existed before Mr Amaral published the controversial claims, Mrs Melo e Castro said.

British police searching for missing Madeleine McCann spent £16,000 on 67 return flights to Portugal last year, helping the cost of the investigation to soar to nearly £9million.

The trips, which cost more than £1,300 per month, came as the Met Police carried out the biggest ever search undertaken by a team of British police overseas, in a bid to find clues about the young girl's disappearance.

In June, police flew to the Algarve to carry out forensic searches around Praia da Luz, focusing on scrubland a few hundred metres from the apartment block where Madeleine was last seen alive.

Scotland Yard detectives had detailed discussions with the Portuguese over the vital next steps in the multi-million pound probe.

It is understood to be the first time officers from Operation Grange have met officials in Lisbon since 11 key witnesses were re-interviewed in December.

Similar meetings are planned for the near future as the eighth anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance approaches.

The Metropolitan Police declined to comment on the latest summit. A spokesman said: “We are not providing a running commentary.”

Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry are given regular updates on progress of the investigation.

Madeleine McCann: UK police hold crucial Lisbon talks

Met police hold 'detailed discussions' with Portuguese prosecutors to work out next steps in Maddy McCann investigation

LAST UPDATED AT 14:28 ON Mon 16 Mar 2015

British police say they have made progress in their search for Madeleine McCann after meeting Portuguese prosecutors for the first time since 11 key witnesses were re-interviewed last December.

Investigators from Operation Grange had "detailed discussions" in Lisbon to work out the next step in the search for the British girl who went missing eight years ago at the age of three.

The Lisbon summit comes as a family in South Africa urged the McCanns not to lose hope after being reunited with their missing daughter after 17 years.

Zephany Nurse was kidnapped from her cot in a Cape Town hospital while her mother was sleeping just three days after giving birth.

Yes, it's time we stopped looking for Maddie: As a police boss says the £10m hunt must end, DAVID JONES, who's reported on the case for eight years, explains with a heavy heart why he agrees

. Police chiefs have been urged to wind up the hunt for Madeleine McCann
. Metropolitan Police Federation chairman John Tulley called for a 're-focus'
. He said: ‘It's time to re-focus on what we need to do to keep London safe'
. Maddie vanished from apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal eight years ago
. Met Police has spent £10m in hunt for her but no arrests have been made

Not long ago, seized by the compulsion to follow up yet another supposedly promising new lead in the Madeleine McCann case, I returned to Praia da Luz, the conspiratorial little resort that will be forever associated with her name.

Having reported on her story from the earliest days after her disappearance, investigating innumerable twists and turns, I have beaten the tortuous path to that craggy tip of the Algarve more times than I care to remember.

Yet revisiting some of its now-fabled landmarks — apartment 5A at the Ocean Club holiday resort, the white-washed chapel where Kate and Gerry would pray for deliverance — it struck me how precious little we have learned about her fate.

Madeleine McCann's parents win Portuguese libel case
Barry Hatton, Associated Press 12:52 p.m. EDT April 28, 2015

"....LISBON, Portugal (AP) — The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann have won 500,000 euros ($549,000) in a libel action against a former Portuguese detective who published a book alleging they were involved in their daughter's disappearance, according to a Lisbon court ruling published Tuesday.

The McCanns were seeking 1.2 million euros in damages from Goncalo Amaral, who was part of the police investigation into Madeleine's disappearance from a vacation home in Portugal's Algarve region in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday.

The claim included amounts for the parents as well as for Madeleine and her younger twin brother and sister.

The court decided to award 250,000 euros each to Kate and Gerry McCann, but didn't grant the other claims. It said Kate and Gerry were "totally destroyed" and "depressed" by Amaral's allegations and felt "ashamed" that they might appear to have been to blame for their daughter's disappearance. They say Madeleine was abducted.

Amaral argued in his defense that his claims stemmed from the police investigation and that Portuguese media had already reported the possibility that they might have played a role in Madeleine's disappearance.

The 52-page ruling, handed down Monday, also prohibited the sale of Amaral's 2008 book "The Truth of the Lie."

(I so totally disagree with the courts finding. IMO, these parents were not "totally destroyed". I go with the findings of Amaral and of the cadaver dogs in the vacation apartment, the car, etc.. Dogs trained do not lie...Those dogs found evidence of blood in two areas of the apartment. A person described to look like a member of the party was seen walking down the street--well lit-- carrying a child who appeared to be the girl. Parts of his book were listed earlier in this thread. You be the judge. )
