Bystander Effect

Post by Maat on Mon Jul 26, 2010 2:16 pm

This broke my heart! I am the world's worst for jumping in when something feels wrong. I have embarrassed my family many times! This is why I do it:

And I taught both my kids to yell "STRANGER! STRANGER!" if anyone grabbed them. To think, people could just keep walking even with that.

It's amazing how many people did not help & that nobody with a cell phone would at least call 911 and say hey, something is going on. Finally, somebody did step in to help. I told my kids to try to run and yell FIRE! FIRE!, and to go for the eyes or the groin if they got grabbed. (They just mentioned the elderly lady with a cell phone who was going to call for help.)

It is scary seeing how many people won't time out of their busy lives to stop a possible abduction. No wonder so many kids are abducted in broad daylight without witnesses.

These guys were going to take him down, they didn't say a word! They surrounded him to protect that little girl!
It was heartbreaking to watch the others just walk on by...unreal.

I couldn't believe how people just looked at them and kept going. And we wonder how our children disappear in broad daylight. GEEZ!
