This is an article published by the Houston Chronicle pertaining to Abigail Young's trial. Interesting info! There are two pictures in the upper left of the article . . .Emma in the field of bluebonnets and Abigail Young (Click on 2)

Defense tries to make case for Emma's mother
Her family didn't see 'red flags' of abuse either, Young's lawyers argue in case of slain little girl

By BRIAN ROGERS
HOUSTON CHRONICLE
July 10, 2010, 8:00AM

Abigail Young's husband and sister had the same information, saw the same signs of possible abuse on the licensed nurse's 4-year-old daughter and had the same opportunities to alert authorities, but they did not, Young's defense lawyers said Friday.

"There weren't red flags for them either," said defense attorney Julie Ketterman. "Her sister and her husband at the time had the exact same information that she did about everybody, including Luke, and they didn't voice any concerns either."

That, her lawyers say, shows that Young should not be blamed in Emma Thompson's assault and rape — which authorities say was at the hands of her boyfriend, Lucas Coe, last summer.

Young, 34, is charged with serious bodily injury to a child by omission, accused of failing to protect her daughter, who arrived dead at an emergency room on June 27, 2009, with 80 bruises and a fractured skull. If convicted, Young faces up to life in prison.

Prosecutors disputed Ketterman's assertion and said testimony showed that neither Young's former husband nor her sister knew as much as she did. They also elicited testimony in the two-week trial that Young lied to investigators and medical providers about dating Coe.

"We feel we proved our case," said Assistant Harris County District Attorney Colleen Barnett.

The prosecution rested its case Thursday. Young's attorneys began putting on her defense Friday and expect to finish Monday.

At the heart of the allegations is whether Young lied to authorities about secretly living with Coe.

Coe trial coming up

Coe, 28, has been charged with super aggravated sexual assault of Emma Thompson and is expected to be tried later this year. The recently created charge carries a minimum of 25 years in prison and a maximum of life. There is no chance of parole or early release, potentially making it a stiffer punishment than that allowed for murder.

No, sitemama. In regard to Coe, please see the above paragraph I snipped from a Houston Chronicle article.

Abigail Young's trial concluded with a guilty verdict of a lesser charge on 7-12-10. After the punishment phase of Young's trial, the jury handed down a sentence of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Per Texas law, Young will be eligible for parole in 5 years (good behavior).

The State of Texas was seeking a guilty verdict in the first degree felony charge which would have allowed for a maximum sentence of Life in Prison without Parole and a minimum of 25 years. Unfortunately, the jury found Young guilty of the lesser charge.

Snipped:

Case two is just as horrifying, the on-going heartbreak of the short and terrifying life of little Emma Thompson, the cute, red-headed four-year-old pictured on the right. Before she died, Emma came to the attention of Houston's Child Protective Services when she contracted genital herpes. One would think perhaps that should have been enough to take the child away from her mother. Apparently CPS disagrees. Emma's mom, Abigail Young, is a nurse, described as a gifted one at that. How did she explain her daughter's STD? A dirty toilet seat. Next thing we know, little Emma was beaten to death.

Post by Ann - Tx on Mon Sep 06, 2010 2:20 am

Since Emma Thompson died a brutal, horrific death on June 27, 2009, I have monitored the status of the nursing license of Abigail Young, Registered Nurse at the time of Emma's death, with the State of Texas Board of Nursing, Austin, Tx.

The last time I checked was on August 10, 2010. At that time, Young still had her license.

I just checked and I see after receiving Notice of Disciplinary Action by the Texas Board of Nursing, dated July 14, 2010, Abigail Young voluntarily surrendered her license.

Young's Voluntary Statement of Surrender is dated 8-4-10, signed by Young and notarized. The letterhead indicates a Brenham, Texas address. It is the address of a family member. I prefer to not state the name of the person. Young's address, at the time was and still is the Harris County Jail, Houston, Tx.

Whoever added the pictures and the video up-thread to the articles . . . . Thank you! I assume it was Snaz or Justice4All.

It really does look nice! I think it is wonderful that FystyAngel, site owner, has allowed this thread for Emma Thompson.

Also, Snaz and Justice4All, Administrators, are ensuring this thread is in line with the other threads on Reality Chatter.

This is all for Emma Thompson .. .. .. so many failed precious, little Emma prior to her horrific, brutal death and her maternal grandmother, Margie Routt Young, failed Emma after death by not supporting justice for Emma. Routt Young supported her daughter, Abigail Young, by testifying for the Defense. Routt Young did not give a Victim's Impact Statement on behalf of Emma Thompson. Routt Young failed her precious granddaughter by not providing a tombstone, ledger and cradle for Emma . . . an innocent child victim!

Reality Chatter has not failed Emma Thompson! We are all seeking justice for precious little Emma!

This is an interesting article from the Brenham Banner Press, Brenham, Tx. dated 7-13-10 about Abigail Young's trial.

In this article, some of the testimony of Laura, Abigail's oldest daughter who is now 12, is discussed. Laura testified via video camera and the Prosecution declined to question her. Laura testified for the Defense - her mother, Abigail!

Young found guilty of lesser charge

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 1:14 PM CDT

HOUSTON — The sentencing phase of Abigail Young’s trial began today, a day after a jury here deliberated only four hours before finding her guilty of reckless serious bodily injury to a child by omission.

Jurors actually convicted Young of the lesser of two possible charges. If they had been convinced that Young, a registered nurse and single mother, “intentionally or knowingly” failed to protect her daughter, she could have faced a life sentence.

The reckless serious bodily injury to a child by omission charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in state prison.

Young was convicted in the death of her 4-year-old daughter, Emma Thompson, who died June 27, 2009. Authorities said the child was covered with 80 bruises, a skull fracture, three broken ribs and signs of being struck in the abdomen.

Young’s one-time boyfriend, Lucas Coe, has been charged with enhanced aggravated sexual assault in the case. He expected to stand trial later this year.
Young burst into tears after jurors found her guilty. She was taken immediately into custody by sheriff’s deputies.

Her attorneys said the decision by jurors was a victory of sorts because she was not found guilty of the more serious charge.

~~~~~~~~
Hi, CptKD!
You certainly had me fooled. Your style of commenting (writing) is so similar to Capt. Ken or Ken-Fl that I was fairly certain it was him. He always made intelligent comments and I looked forward to reading his comments.
KD, you have a very interesting background. Yes, Statement Analysis, is very interesting as well as Body Language. Body Language speaks volumes and is used by some major corporations in the U. S. in the hiring process. My body language was analyzed twice by two major corporations in the hiring process - I was hired so I guess I met their standards! After I was hired, they shared the analysis with me. It was right on! The professional analyzing me had me down to a T. The analysis was quite amazing.
If you will Google “body language” there is a wealth of info available. I had a lot of technical articles regarding body language saved and lost all of them a few days ago due to my Broadband and Internet connection being down. If I ever get time, I’ll try to search for the articles again.
As is evident, I am from Texas and live between Houston and Austin. I am an active advocate for child abuse/murder; missing children, elderly abuse and animal abuse. I get very involved in working with Texas State Legislators who have the power to change laws in Texas. I also work with decision makers at the County level.
You mentioned you follow cases of children - missing, murdered, etc. I am currently following the case of Emma Thompson, a 4-year-old child from Spring,Tx (near Houston, Tx), who was brutally raped and beaten by her mother’s boyfriend and died a horrific death on 6-27-09.
Three weeks before her death, she was diagnosed with Genital Herpes of the mouth, hands and vaginal area. As required by Texas law, her peditrician notified Texas Child’s Protective Services (CPS). CPS improperly investigated Emma’s case. Emma was not removed from her home and 3 weeks later she was dead.
Her mother, Abigail Young, a Registered Nurse, was convicted on July 12,2010 and sentenced on 7-13-10 to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She will be eligible for parole in 5 years (good behavior). This is a slap on the hand! Young comes from a long line of wealth and the $10,000 is a drop in the bucket. She was able to hire two well known attorneys in Houston, Tx. And. . .they don’t come cheap!
Lucas Ruric Coe, Young’s boyfriend at the time, is charged with Super Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child < 6. His trial is scheduled to start next Monday, 9-13-10 in Harris County, Tx.
If found guilty (and I am confident he will be found guilty), the minimum allowed is 25 years in prison and the maximum is life without parole. The State of Texas (Harris County District Attorney Prosecutors) is seeking a guilty verdict with Life in Prison without the Possibility of Parole.
I have a personal interest in Emma’s case. I know her maternal family (grandmother, great grandparents, uncles, etc.) well. They live in my county. We are shocked as to how such a fine family who have contributed so much to our community have a daughter who raised an unfit mother like Young! Unbelievable but true!
If you are interested in this case, I wrote an intro in to this case in preparation for Coe’s trial. I’ve posted numerous articles, video’s, research info, etc. It will certainly bring you up to speed on this case. The Lead Detective, (investigator) in Emma’s case stated, in a Press Conference, Emma was the worst case of child abuse he has seen in his 19 years of Law Enforcement.
Emma sustained her fatal injuries 12 to 24 hours prior to her death per the Autopsy Report. She suffered pain prior to death. Some of her injuries were a fractured (cracked) skull (Young, RN, tried to Super Glue Emma’s skull together before taking her, by private vehicle, to an ER - did not even bother to call 911.), 80 contusions, severed pancreas, tearing in the vaginal area, 3 broken ribs, busted lips, massive internal injuries, etc. The Medical Examiner ruled blunt force abdominal trauma as the cause of death. Horrific, brutal death!
Lucas Coe has a long criminal history. He should have been in jail. Abigail Young even paid off a huge amount in restitution that Coe owed on a previous child abuse case in Houston! Then she had the stupidity and audacity to allow Coe into her home among her three young daughters.
I think the Prosecutors said it best at Young’s trial when they told the jury that Abigail Young cared more for Lucas Coe did she cared for her own daughter, Emma! (Not verbatim)
Emma is buried in a cemetery near my maternal grandparents. I always visit her grave when I visit my grandparents’ graves and that is often. In fact, I was there today.
KD, I think you would be very interested in this case especially since you have a LE background. If Young had not lied to CPS and others who investigated 3 weeks prior to Emma’s death, Emma would be alive today . . . provided she had been removed from her home.
I will be attending several days of Lucas Coe’s trial in Houston. I will be working closely with 2 newspapers, one radio station and one TV station outside of the greater Houston area during the trial. I have done this as the case unfolded, during Abigail Young’s trial and will do the same during Coe’s trial. This is to ensure coverage of Emma’s case.
Please take the time to visit Emma’s thread on Reality Chatter. As previously stated, I set the thread up and I will keep it updated as Coe’s trial progesses. Emma was a precious little girl. After you see her pictues, she will capture your heart!
Justice for precious Emma Thompson!
CptKD, it was a pleasure “meeting” you and it appears we have some interests in common. I look forward to “talking” to you again. I have been following the cases of Haleigh Cummings and Caylee Anthony since day one.
Did you see Peter’s new article today? Very interesting. It’s about Casey “I kill” video and Dr. Glass.
I hope that Haleigh’s case is solved soon. Haleigh captured my heart and I wish that she is found soon and brought back to her family. I do feel Haleigh is deceased.
Post by Ann - Tx on Tue Sep 07, 2010 4:43 pm
About a week after Emma's horrific, brutal death, I started an informal group and we are seeking justice for precious, sweet, little Emma Thompson.
Members of our group are comprised of residents of Washington County, Tx and beyond. All either know or know of Emma's maternal side of the family.
I have kept our group updated and we all shared our thoughts and opinions. It has been a long march to justice, with some disappointments, but we respect authority and the decisions made regarding Emma Thompson's case. We may not agree with some of those decisions but we do respect authority.
This afternoon, I sent the following update to over 150 people in our group. For security and privacy reasons, some names, location, phone number, etc. is XXXXed out!
If anyone from the Houston area is reading here and plans to attend Lucas Ruric Coe's trial, there is detailed information towards the end of the update which you will find most helpful and informative!
For your info, I researched the status of Abigail Young's RN license with the Texas Board of Nursing. I have compiled the following:
Since Emma Thompson died a brutal, horrific death on June 27, 2009, I have monitored the status of the nursing license of Abigail Young, Registered Nurse at the time of Emma's death, with the State of Texas Board of Nursing, Austin, Tx.
The last time I checked was on August 10, 2010. At that time, Young still had her license.
I just checked and I see after receiving Notice of Disciplinary Action by the Texas Board of Nursing, dated July 14, 2010, Abigail Young voluntarily surrendered her license.
Young's Voluntary Statement of Surrender is dated 8-4-10, signed by Young and notarized. The letterhead indicates a Brenham, Texas address. It is the address of a family member. I prefer to not state the name of the person.
Young's address, at the time was and still is the Harris County Jail, Houston, Tx.
Okay, I think we all know the address is that of xxxxxxx.
I hope this info will be helpful to you. I am looking forward to the Lucas Coe Trial. I think this will be an emotionally charged trial.
In my opinion, I hope Coe is found guilty and is sentenced to Life in Prison without Parole for the brutal, horrific death of Emma Thompson.
It is my understanding that the State of Texas (Harris County Prosecutors) is seeking a guilty verdict and Life in Prison without Parole. It is my understading per Texas law, if Coe is found guilty, the minimum sentence is 25 years in prison and the maximum is 99 years.
Justice for precious Emma Thompson!
Thank you for your valuable time and more importantly thank you for your support of Emma Thompson.
Precious little Emma was failed by many prior to her brutal, horrific death.
After death, Emma's mother, Abigail Young, did not attend her funeral or vigil.
Her grandmother, Margie Routt Young, who many of us know well, failed Emma by supporting Abigail, her daughter. Routt Young testifed for the Defense in Young's trial. Routt Young did not give a Victim's Impact Statement on behalf of her precious granddaughter, Emma Thompson.
It is over a year and precious Emma does not have a Tombstone, Ledger and Cradle. Many of us know what her grave looks like. I think it is very disrespectul to Emma and once again, Margie Routt Young, who can afford the aforementioned, failed Emma again . . . . after her brutal, horrific death!
I look forward to updating you with Links to articles and videos during Lucas Ruric Coe's trial. Hopefully, Coe is found guilty and sentenced to the maximum - Life in Prison without Parole! Then maybe Emma Thompson can rest in peace!
If any of you are interested in attending Lucas Coe's trial, I spoke with xxxxxxxxxxx , Harris County Court Administration, this morning via phone. The following info is per xxxxx:
Coe trial scheduled to start next week
Published: Tuesday, September 7, 2010 1:36 PM CDT
Lucas Ruric Coe is scheduled to go on trial next week in Houston for the death of 4-year-old Emma Thompson.
Coe is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child (enhanced), a charge that could get him life in prison if he is found guilty.
Coe remains in the Harris County jail under $300,000 bond.
A pre-trial hearing in the case is scheduled for Thursday, with jury selection scheduled to begin next Monday, also in district court in Houston.
Prosecutors are said to be seeking a sentence of life in prison without parole for Coe.
Coe was the one-time boyfriend of Emma Thompson’s mother, Abigail Young, who earlier this year was convicted in the child’s death.
Young, convicted of reckless injury to a child by omission, was sentenced by a jury to 20 years in state prison and fined $10,000. She remains in a Harris County jail pending transfer to the state prison system.
LUCAS COE TRIAL TO BEGIN
(SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2010)
The trial of Lucas Coe, the man charged in the death of four-year old Emma Thompson is set to begin Monday in a Houston courtroom.
Coe is charged with sexually assaulting Emma Thompson which led to the death of the four-year old girl in June of last year. His one-time girlfriend, 34-year old Abigail Young, a former nurse in Brenham, was convicted of a lesser charge of causing injury to a child by omission in July. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine. She was also ordered to surrender her nursing license.
Coe was arrested in August of last year, along with Young. Pre-trial hearings are set for Thursday. The jury selection and testimony are expected to begin on Monday. Prosecutors are seeking a life term without parole if convicted
RE: Abigail Young's Trial
This is an excellent article by Terri Langford, Investigative Reporter, Houston Chronicle, Houston, Tx. To the upper left there are 4 photos (click on numbers), and to the lower left under 'Resources' there are 3 videos including voir dier (jury selection, opening statements and first day of trial).
There are some interesting comments below the article! I love the second paragraph!
Opening statements begin in baby Emma death case
By TERRI LANGFORD
Copyright 2010 HOUSTON CHRONICLE
June 29, 2010, 2:03PM
Emma Thompson, 4, was found to have 80 bruises, a severed pancreas and a fractured skull.
In the weeks leading up to a Spring preschooler's violent death, her mother was in the midst of a divorce, had a new outlaw boyfriend in tow and Texas Child Protective Services knocking at her door, opening statements revealed today.
There had been glaring warnings that Abigail Young's 4-year-old daughter, Emma Thompson, had been abused frequently and raped. Tests also proved the girl had genital herpes, prosecutors said during today's opening statements that began Young's trial on charges of failing to protect her child from harm.
Despite those signs, Young, a registered nurse, lied about her illicit paramour's existence to doctors, CPS, and even told her soon-to-be ex-husband to do the same because it might cause them both problems, prosecutors said.
"She was smitten by him,” assistant Harris County prosecutor Tina Ansari said of Young's blind devotion to 28-year-old Lucas Coe. She quickly would do anything and everything for him, prosecutors said.
Coe, who will be tried later this year for Emma's rape, was fresh off of probation for aggravated assault but facing a pending and unrelated child abuse charge in another county, Ansari said, when he and Young began dating in early 2009. At that point Young was still married to her second husband and father of her two youngest children.
But when Emma began exhibiting physical problems and an alert pediatrician reported to CPS that the girl had tested positive for genital herpes, Young began a denial campaign, telling CPS, Emma's doctors and even her own employer that there was no man in her life and that Emma contracted the sexually transmitted disease in a non-sexually manner.
RE: Lucas Ruric Coe
This is an excellent article! A must read!
As Emma Thompson's case unfolded in 2009, there was information disclosed about how Judge Marc Carter handled some things regarding Coe prior to Coe hooking up with Abigail Young.
There was an outrage, by many people, in the greater Houston area and beyond. As a result of that outrage, this article was published by the Houston Chronicle, Houston, Tx.
~~~~~~~~~~

Outrage at judge is misplaced

By LISA FALKENBERG
Aug. 26, 2009, 9:02PM

Judge Marc Carter sat in his courthouse office one afternoon last week and described what it felt like to learn that Lucas Coe, one of the 1,800 probationers he oversees on any given day, had been charged in the death of 4-year-old Emma Thompson.

Emma was sexually assaulted and beaten to death in June.

“I had a knot in my stomach,” said the 50-year-old Republican judge, who has two daughters of his own. “You feel like you've been punched in the gut.”

A few days after the interview, while reading Sunday's letters to the editor berating him for ending Coe's probation months before Emma's death, the judge e-mailed: “Being held responsible for Emma's death is killing me.”

A slaying as heinous as Emma's leaves us looking for someone to blame. Whether it's Coe, or Emma's mother, who reportedly lied to CPS investigators, or CPS for not probing deeper into how Emma contracted genital herpes, there appears to be plenty of blame to go around.

But I don't believe Carter belongs on that list. Sure, the judge was foolish not to talk to Chronicle reporter Terri Langford for her Aug. 18 story detailing his repeated decisions not to revoke Coe's probation, despite violations and new charges.

sitemama,

Regarding the 12-21-02 charge against Coe: I snipped this from the above article I posted on 9-8-10 at 10:28 p.m. It is from the Houston Chronicle, Houston, Tx.
~~~~~~~~
Outrage at judge is misplaced
By LISA FALKENBERG
Copyright 2009 Houston Chronicle
Snipped:
“The community wants us to operate behind a crystal ball,” Carter says. “But this idea that I possessed the knowledge to prevent Emma's death is not true.”
While supervising Coe's six-year probation in a 2002 aggravated assault case, Carter never saw Coe as the dangerous child molester he's now alleged to be.
Maybe a hothead, a drunk, but not someone capable of Emma's brutal rape and beating.
“I'm thinking I just have a guy with a drinking problem,” Carter told me.
The judge said his chief goal in Coe's case was to ensure he paid the $40,000 in restitution owed to the victim in the assault, which involved Coe intentionally ramming his car into somebody else. So, even when Coe violated probation in 2005 with a DWI in Montgomery County, the judge tried other options — 90 days in jail, revoked driver's license, rehab — before he considered throwing him in prison, where Coe wouldn't be able to pay his debt.
It is three (3) days from Lucas Ruric Coe's trial in Houston, Harris County, Tx.
September 13, 2010 . . . the beginning of the day of reckoning for Lucas Ruric Coe!
I think it is appropriate to post the following article. It is from The Courier of Montgomery County, Conroe, Tx and is dated 7-12-10. Records have indicated Coe is from Magnolia, Montgomery County,Tx.
Jury: Texas mom didn’t prevent 4-year-old’s death
Updated: 07.12.10
HOUSTON — A Harris County jury has found a suburban Houston mother guilty of failing to prevent the death of her 4-year-old daughter.
Jurors deliberated for four hours Monday before finding 34-year-old Abigail Young guilty of recklessly causing injury to a child by omission. Young faces up to 20 years in prison and will be sentenced at a separate hearing.
Emma Thompson died June 27, 2009, after suffering a severed pancreas and fractured skull. She also had tested positive for genital herpes.
Thompson died at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. Her death was ruled a homicide as a result of blunt abdominal trauma, according to an autopsy.
Emotional Outburts Boil Over During Mother's Trial
Abigail Young Charged With Injury To A Child
PoliceNewsLink.Com - Houston
10:36 pm CDT June 29, 2010
HOUSTON -- A mother accused of failing to protect her daughter is on trial for injury to a child by omission was prone to emotional outbursts during testimony, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Abigail Young's reaction to her daughter's autopsy photos forced the judge to ask the jury to clear the courtroom.
Testimony from the first witness, Dr. Patricia Moore from the Montgomery County medical examiner's office, caused Young, 34, to put her head down and let out a wailing cry.
forced the judge to ask the jury to clear the courtroom.
Why would the judge ask the jury to leave the courtroom? Shouldn't they hear the testimony if they are going to be making a decision in the case?
I've heard of judges asking spectators to leave, and the accused to leave, but never have I heard of a judge asking the jury to leave during testimony.
That is so strange. In NC, they never excuse the jury, but they have had the accused removed if they acted that way. Once they said they could behave properly, they were allowed to come back, but never the jury.
If Young was trying to attack some one or trying to escape, yes she would be removed until she settled down. She was sitting in her chair next to her attorneys and it was spontaneous that she broke down. Crying violently is the way is was described. The Judge removed the Jury and called a recess to give Young a chance to regain her composure.
O.K., I understand if he called a recess for the time the jury was out. That makes sense.
Sunny, at The Hinky Meter, left me a comment regarding Emma Thompson. This is my response to Sunny on Just for Chat (The Hinky):
» Ann - Tx said: { Sep 10, 2010 - 11:09:12 }
» Sunny said: { Sep 10, 2010 – 11:09:21 }
~~~~~~~~~~~

You welcome, Sunny! I am an active advocate for abused, missing, murdered children; elderly abuse and especially animal abuse. Animals have no voice at all.

I was horrified as Emma’s case unfolded. Emma’s mother, Abigail Young, is from Brenham, Washington County, Tx and I live in Washington County. I know Emma’s grandmother, Margie Routt Young, and her siblings. Her parents are now deceased but I knew them well as they were good friends with my parents. Also, Margie’s grandfather was a renowned physician in Brenham and he delivered me when I was born.

Besides an advocate’s interest in Emma’s case, I have a personal interest in Emma’s case because I know her maternal side of the family. Many of us are shocked because we can not understand how Margie could have raised a daughter like Abigail! Beyond our comprehension!

To add insult to injury and death, Margie, Emma’s grandmother, did not support Emma from day one. She was clueless at a Custody Hearing in 2009. She supported Abigail and testified for the Defense at Abigail’s trial which concluded 7-13-10 with the Punishment Phase. Margie did not give a Victim’s Impact Statement on behalf of Emma. Only Emma’s dad, Ben Thompson, and her paternal grandmother, Laurie Thompson gave a Victim’s Impact Statement.

If you have not heard it, I have it posted on Emma’s thread at Reality Chatter (RC). I assure you it is worth listening to. Laurie spoke eloquently and lovingly when she spoke of Emma. She let all know who the real Abigail Young is! Ben spoke with anger to Abigail! It is about 9 minutes; maybe 7. I posted the Link but Administration at RC put the video in the comment box for me. It is ready to go. Just click on!

Emma is buried in a cemetery in Brenham. When I visit my maternal grandparents grave, which is often, I stop and visit Emma’s grave.

Have you seen the beautiful picture of Emma in the field of bluebonnets? That is our state (Texas) flower and they bloom prolifically in Washington County in the spring.

Emma’s aunt, Amanda, said Emma would use to love to dance and sing in the bluebonnets. Amanda made a comment in a message to Emma that maybe she (Amanda) would go and dance in the bluebonnets for her. Amanda also commented that Emma was a happy child and always liked to smile and laugh.

If you have not seen the picture, it is posted in an intro I wrote to the Emma Thompson Case in preparation for Lucas Coe’s trial. There are numerous pertinent main stream media links I posted on Emma’s thread also.

If you get a chance, please take the time and check it out for Emma. The thread looks nice. I do not know how to post pictures and videos so Snaz and Justice4All (RC Administrators) posted the pictures and some of the videos that were in the articles. Snaz made the thread come “alive”.

So many failed Emma weeks prior to her brutal, horrific death and unfortunately, her grandmother, Margie Routt Young, failed Emma after death. So sad that she testified for the Defense and really awful that she did not speak on behalf of Emma and give a Victim’s Impact Statement!

Here is the Link to Emma’s thread. Part of page 4 and 5 are Off Topic. I was trying to help LuLu (a Hinkster), who joined RC, as she is from Tx and is following the case closely. I was trying to get LuLu to go to her Inbox where I could Personal Message her and let her know about replying, the edit button, preview, etc. As soon as she acknowledges she knows how to get to the Inbox, the thread will be cleaned up and no Off Topic.

Sunny, thank you for your interest in Emma’s case and for supporting justice for Emma. At least, we at The Hinky, are supporting justice for Emma which her own grandmother failed to do!

The home at 25003 Haverford Rd, Houston, TX is the home where Abigail Young lived with her three daughters.

It is the home where Emma Thompson was raped and beaten allegedly by Lucas Ruric Coe.
The home has been foreclosed and is currently listed as a foreclosure by MOVOTO

I saw videos of the home as Emma's case unfolded. The current foreclosure listing picture shows a yard that now needs TLC (tender loving care).

Here is the Link to the home listing:

The former home of Abigail Young where Emma Thompson was raped and beaten allegedly by Lucas Ruric Coe has been foreclosed and is available for a really cheap price.

The home is in a golf course community. It appears the average price range of the homes are $500,000 plus. MOVOTO has it listed as a foreclosure for $175,900.

I noticed in a chart (see it on MOVOTO's site below the home features), the median price range of the homes in the area are $600,000 with a decline to $200,000. I assume the decline in value is due to the housing market situation.

Think of Jose Baez's home in Florida. If you follow the Casey Anthony Case, I assume you read the article(s) about the devalue of Baez's several million dollar plus home.

Here are the features of the home as listed my MOVOTO:

You can preview the home. There are pictures of the inside of the home and the back yard. The yard is now in need of care as this home has been in foreclosure since last year.

Click on the numbers below the picture of the home. 'All' will take you to a larger picture of the home.

NOTE: In picture 3, the walls are taupe. In picture 5, I notice that a section of the drywall has been cut and removed. The walls are taupe.

I assume some of the walls throughout the home were painted taupe. I wonder if that was Emma's bedroom or perhaps the bathroom.

Abigail Young told neighbors, the night of 6-27-10 when Emma was pronounced dead, and Young returned from the ER at Memorial Hermann Hospital - The Woodlands, Tx, that she cleaned up the bathroom with bleach before she bothered to attempt to seek medical care for Emma and take Emma to the ER.

I wonder if luminol testing (if used by LE investigators) indicated blood and they cut out that section of the wall.

All of the aforementioned are not fact. They are my thoughts only. Just my observation!

I will be attending Lucas Coe's trial. If taupe colored sections of a wall are introduced in to evidence, I will know where it came from. Of course, it would be stated where it came from.

I have been researching Lucas Ruric Coe and Abigail Young with the Harris County District Clerk's Office, Houston, Tx.

Regarding Lucas Coe, he initially hired Ben Steinmann. Then the next attorney was Richard Guy Jones.

The attorneys of record currently representing Coe (per documents filed on 8-5-10, with the District Clerk's office) are Richard G. Detoto and William H. VanBuren.

Emma rape trial opens today
Mother's boyfriend is accused in attack on 4-year-old girl who later died

By TERRI LANGFORD
HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Sept. 12, 2010, 10:03PM

For eight years, accused child rapist Lucas Coe fended off a bevy of criminal charges that until today had little chance of keeping him behind bars.

There was a 2002 aggravated assault in Harris County, a DWI conviction that left him without a driver's license, a Montgomery County assault charge, the two times he was jailed for probation violations and in 2007, a Montgomery County child abuse charge that even now has yet to go to trial.

Today, though, he is on trial — this time charged with sexually assaulting 4-year-old Emma Thompson who died in June 2009, the result of multiple unexplained injuries. Coe, 28, is not charged in her death.

Emma's mother, former registered nurse Abigail Young, already is in prison. A jury in July convicted her of "reckless" injury to a child. Young, who according to court testimony, left Emma's father for her handyman paramour Coe, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and is eligible for parole in five years.

Emma was declared dead at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital the night of June 27, 2009. Her body was badly bruised, her skull fractured and her vagina bore a large tear, indicating sexual assault.

That night, Young came home to find her daughter, who had been left with Coe, nearly unconscious. She carried Emma from the house to the car to take her to the hospital, claiming then and in testimony later that she believed her daughter to be the victim of a fall in the bathroom.

But instead of waiting with Emma's two older sisters for word from the hospital, witnesses say Coe ran to a neighbor, asking her to watch the girls. He also asked the neighbor to take him and his own young daughter to a nearby Jack-in-the-Box where his sister, who lived 20 miles away, was going to pick them up.

Ann - superb work on the part of the wall that was cut out. I went to check out the inside and see that but the listing now states: NOTE: MLS record 99870128 is no longer in active status.

Did you happen to save that picture?

Thank you! Piper, no I did not. I do not know how to post pictures yet. Justice posted the picture of Young's home. I think he saved the pictures. Please PM and ask him. I am almost certain he saved them.

It would be awesome if Justice could put up picture 3 (The walls are taupe and there is a small fireplace white trim - probably one of several). Then put up picture 5 next to it. Picture 5 shows a tile floor and a low window with white blinds. Below the window and to the right and left of the window, there is a section of the wall cut out. You can see the electrical wiring and some insulation. The walls are taupe.

I'm thinking maybe it was one of the bathrooms. When Young returned to her home from the hospital after Emma was officially pronounced dead, she told her neighbors that she bleached her bathroom and cleaned it up before she attempted to take Emma to the ER. Also, she told LE that Emma sustained her injuries by falling off of the commode! LE said Young's explanations to them were not supported by the evidence!

Trial begins against man accused in rape of Emma Thompson

Brenham Banner Press Brenham, Tx
Published:
Monday, September 13, 2010 12:28 PM CDT

HOUSTON — Jury selection began here today in the trial of accused child rapist Lucas Coe.

Coe will stand trial in the June 2009 death of 4-year-old Emma Thompson.

Emma’s mother, former registered nurse Abigail Young, in July was sentenced to 20 years in state prison.

A jury found her guilty reckless serious bodily injury to a child by omission. Jurors could have opted for a more serious charge that she “intentionally or knowingly” failed to protect her daughter, which could have brought a life sentence..

Young, who according to court testimony, left Emma’s father for Coe, is eligible for parole in five years. Young is a Brenham native.

Emma was declared dead at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital the night of June 27, 2009. Her body was badly bruised, her skull fractured and her vagina bore a large tear, indicating sexual assault.
