ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - A six-week old boy died after he was found unresponsive at a home daycare that had four times the number of children it was allowed, Rock Hill police said Friday afternoon.

According to Lieutenant Brad Redfearn with the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were called to a home on the 1110 block of Pearson Drive around 10:51 a.m. Friday.

WBTV has learned this is the location of Elizabeth Home Daycare, owned by 58-year-old Elizabeth Caldwell.

When they arrived, emergency crews from Piedmont Medical Center EMS were attempting to save an unresponsive infant. The infant was transported by EMS to Piedmont Medical Center where he later died, Lt. Redfearn told WBTV.

Lt. Redfearn told WBTV that the little boy that died was 6 weeks old.

WBTV's Sarah Batista spoke with the 25-year-old daughter of Caldwell, who says her mother went to check on the little boy while he was sleeping and saw that he wasn't breathing. That's when Caldwell called police.

A woman who walked out of daycare with a baby carrier told WBTV that she was the grandmother of the little boy, but didn't want to say much more. According to York County Deputy Coroner Mitch Lindsay, the little boy's name is Zayden Jones.

Officers found 20 children under the age of five-years-old in the residence with Caldwell and another woman. According to Lt. Redfearn, the residence was a daycare center that was only zoned for five children, meaning the daycare had four times the number of children at the time of the death.

Redfearn told WBTV that Rock Hill City Zoning came out to the home and posted a stop work order on the residence. Caldwell's daughter told WBTV that Elizabeth Home Daycare has been open for 25 years.

The Department of Social Services has been notified of the incident and are conducting a parallel investigation. Investigators were speaking with Caldwell when WBTV arrived at the daycare.

The cause of death has not been released as of 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Police say the incident is still under investigation.
