Teen girl escapes after being grabbed by potential kidnapper

February 11th, 2011 1:06 pm ET

Authorities in Clermont, Florida are investigating an attempted kidnapping case, in which a man tried to kidnap a teenage girl while she stood at her bus stop.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45pm Thursday, at the bus stop, located at Ryegrass Street and Superior Boulevard, near the town’s Sawgrass Bay Subdivision. The incident prompted someone to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, who then responded.
It happened when the man exited a white full-size pickup truck, confronted the 14-year-old girl, grabbed her, and tried to take off some of her clothes, ripping some of the girl’s clothing in the process, according to deputies...

...Since the suspect remains at large and the investigation of this case remains ongoing, all nearby residents and businesses have been advised to take extra precautions.

Deputies of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDCSD) say that it happened at approximately 8am Tuesday, in the La Presa area near Spring Valley.

Police Investigating Two Attempted Kidnappings Near Hutchinson School
Two Mount Vernon teenagers were accosted by men who tried luring them into their cars last week.
By Eleanor Goldberg | Email the author | February 10, 2011

Pelham teachers reviewed safe traveling practices with students on Thursday after getting an alert from the Pelham Police Department about two attempted kidnappings in Mount Vernon.

In two separate incidents, two Mount Vernon girls were accosted by men who tried to lure them into their vehicles, just two blocks from the Hutchinson School.

The first incident occurred on Feb. 3 at approximately 7:40 a.m. at East Lincoln Avenue and Sheridan Avenue. A man driving a small blue SUV with tinted windows, pulled his car up alongside the 12-year-old victim and asked, “Can you help me find my puppy dog?” The driver then exited the car, grabbed the victim’s arm, but she was able to escape after a brief struggle, according to Pelham police. The suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall white male with a medium build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

The second incident occurred on Feb. 7 at approximately 3:20 p.m. opposite 531 East Lincoln Ave. A 13-year-old female noticed that a Hispanic male in his 30s, driving a green vehicle, was following her. The man drove up next to the female and said, “Hi, my name is Chris. I’ll pull over.” The victim was able to run away, according to police reports.

MILPITAS, Calif. -- In the past 11 days, the city of Milpitas has had a spate of attempted kidnappings -- three in total. All have occurred within a two mile radius of each other, east of Interstate 680 near Calvares Boulevard. In one of the cases, a man exposed himself to a 17-year old.
Police released sketches Friday of men they suspect have targeted young girls walking to and from school. The latest incident happened to a student at Calvares Hills High School.
Teachers warned children walking home from school Friday afternoon about men in the neighborhood and told them what to do if they're approached.
“They just told us if we see the guy, just scream like heck and run as fast as we can away,” said Amy Rangel, 11.

I know! I can't believe all of these. (If not labeled as runaways), they would all be faces on missing posters by now!

Girl reports attempted kidnapping
BY JEN LEBRON KUHNEY, UNION-TRIBUNE
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2011 AT 12:58 P.M.

SAN YSIDRO — San Diego police are investigating a report that a woman and two others tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl when she was walking to San Ysidro Middle School on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred about 8:40 on Beyer Boulevard near North Lane when a woman on the sidewalk tried to grab the girl. She brushed aside the hand of the woman, who called to a man standing near an older gray, box-style van to try to capture the girl, police said.

The man and woman ran after the girl, while the person in the van drove after her. She ran past a gas station driveway, where a car came in between her and her pursuers. The girl then hid in some bushes before jumping a fence to get back to her apartment building, said police Lt. Andra Brown.

She told her mom about the incident, but the family didn’t report it to police until Thursday night after the father came home, police said.

Had these abductors been successful, most of these girls would be considered 'run-aways' by LE.

I would hope these cases are put into some type of computer system so that ALL LE would be aware of how many times this is happening.

Girl Outwits Attacker; Florida Police Searching for Suspect

Feb 13, 2011 – 1:09 PM

A 12-year-old Florida girl outwitted an assailant who grabbed her while she was taking a shortcut home from school. Police are now searching for the man, also suspected of trying to sexually assault two other girls in broad daylight.

Parts of the attack were captured on a neighbor's home surveillance system. In an attempt to find the suspect, the video was posted on YouTube Saturday by the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The footage shows the girl jumping a fence to cut through a church parking lot on her way home from school Thursday afternoon. Seconds later, the man is seen jumping over the same fence, running after her. She was walking in the church parking lot when the man grabbed her from behind.

The sheriff's department said in a news release that the man then carried her to a low-hanging oak tree, where he attempted to sexually assault her. The girl told him that "There were people in the area and that he better leave," and he fled, according to the sheriff's department.

The girl then ran to the church to report the attack. Deputies and police dogs were not able to track the suspect.

The sheriff's office said the attack matches two prior similar assaults on girls in broad daylight. The incidents were not linked before because they were handled by different law enforcement agencies.

On Jan. 31, a 15-year-old girl was walking home when she was grabbed from behind and then sexually assaulted, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Another 15-year-old girl was grabbed Nov. 29, 2010, also while walking home from school. The man forced her to the ground but she kicked him in the head and ran home. The suspect fled, according to a police report.

"I think we've got a predator out there," Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube told ABC News. "We need everybody's help and everybody's eyes out here."

Authorities are advising parents at area schools to warn their children to stay in groups rather than walk alone. They are also suggesting that parents drive children to and from school until the suspect is captured.

The video footage came from a man who lives near the church and checked his home surveillance tapes after hearing of the attack, according to the Bradenton Herald.

The girl's father stopped by the man's house Saturday to express his appreciation for sharing the tape, the newspaper reported.

"He thanked me," Victor Taylor told the newspaper. "I would have done it for anyone."

The sheriff's office also released surveillance video from a nearby high school showing a man believed to be the suspect walking in a dark hoodie on campus. Authorities are hoping someone can recognize him by his unusual gait.
