Off Topic: Latest News section on Homepage

Post by Ann - Tx on Wed Mar 06, 2013 2:26 am

Off Topic:

For your info, the Latest News section is back on the Homepage . . . in the center and to the right. Also, the Blogs section to the left.

These sections cost money. They are not inexpensive.

In the past, Justice4All (J4A) has paid for the feeds for this section. It expired and yesterday, FystyAngel paid to renew it. J4A did the technical work to put the Latest News, etc. back on the homepage.

I think the Latest News section is an awesome feature that Reality Chatter (RC) offers its members.

If you get a chance, please take the time to express a quick thank you to FystyAngel and Justice4All. Like I said, it is expensive to have this feature and FystyAngel or Justice4All, pay for this feature for our convenience and pleasure of reading the latest updates on many of the cases we follow here at RC.

I know they would appreciate it.

Thank you for your time! Don't forget to check the Homepage - Latest News for updates on some of the cases you follow.

Here is a Direct Link to the thread:

County mitigator falls for Mexican Mafia inmate, leads double life

By the looks of it, Jessica Lynn Mukavetz had it all together in the

leading a double life, as her mug shot on the right can attest.

Mukavetz was arrested Friday for smuggling

Missing: Crystal Dupuis Grebinger (VIDEO)

Posted: Mar 05, 2013 4:31 PM CST

Crystal Dupuis Grebinger

The Lafayette Police Department is investigating the disappearance of a Lafayette woman. 32-year-old Crystal Dupuis Grebinger was last seen early February, leaving the safe house where she was staying.

It's the picture of their child, no mother wants to see. But missing fliers are the only way Tammy Savoy knows how to spread the word of her missing daughter. Grebinger was reported missing February 8th and since then, there have been no phone calls, no nothing.

"I knew something is wrong," said Savoy. "People can cry wolf all the time. (But) this is happening. Something happened to my daughter."

Please take the time to thank J4A and FystyAngel for restoring the following to the Homepage:

Kiley Hegger

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The FBI has now joined the search for a missing Charlotte teen, according to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

Major Johnny Jennings, who heads CMPD's Criminal investigation unit, told reporters Thursday night they are urgently searching for 13 year old Kiley Hegger.

"The unknown factor is what we're very concerned with at this point," he said. "We don't know why, we don't know who she's with. We don't know where she might have gone."

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Kiley Hegger disappeared from her South Charlotte home Monday night.

Kiley's parents told WBTV she was tucked into bed around 11 p.m. Fifteen minutes later, they heard a strange noise and went to check on her.

Search on for missing New Orleans teacher

By Craig Johnson
updated 4:54 PM EDT, Tue March 12, 2013

•Terrilynn Monette, 26, was last seen in bar parking lot
•Police officers searching on horseback around City Park

New Orleans police announced Friday on Facebook that they were going to search on horseback for a missing second-grade schoolteacher who vanished over the weekend.

Terrilynn Monette, 26, a 2012-2013 Teacher of the Year nominee, joined friends for drinks at a popular bar on Saturday, and hasn't been heard from since -- which is "uncharacteristic for her," according to police.

Students at Woodlawn West Elementary School have been expressing their grief by writing letters hoping for her return, according to HLN affiliate WDSU.

Police are asking anyone with information on this missing person case to contact NOPD at 504.821.2222.

A New York State assemblyman who has opposed medical marijuana legislation was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding this week.

In a statement released Friday, authorities reported that state police discovered Steve Katz had a "small bag" of marijuana in his possession during a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway around 10 a.m. Thursday.

A New York State Trooper noticed the smell of marijuana after stopping the 59-year-old assemblyman for driving 80 miles per hour in 65 mph zone. Katz was taken into custody and charged with possession before being released.

2 Ohio Teenagers Found Guilty in Rape of Girl

By RICHARD A. OPPEL Jr.

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Two high school football stars were found guilty on Sunday of raping a 16-year-old girl last August, in a case that drew wide attention for the way social media spurred the initial prosecution and later helped galvanize national outrage over the episode. The town’s obsession over its football team, many said, had shielded other teenagers who did little or nothing to protect the girl.

One football player, Trent Mays, 17, who had been a quarterback on the powerhouse Steubenville High School football team, was sentenced to serve at least two years in the state juvenile system, while the other, Ma’lik Richmond, 16, who played wide receiver, was sentenced to serve at least one year. Both could end up in juvenile jail until they are 21, at the discretion of the state Department of Youth Services.

Mr. Mays’s minimum sentence is twice as long as Mr. Richmond’s because he was found to be delinquent beyond a reasonable doubt — the juvenile equivalent of guilty — not just of rape but also of distributing a nude image of a minor.

Info on the research of missing persons:
When dogs refuse to track; children missing and found miles away often missing shoes but the feet appear clean;

" Sun 03-17

David Paulides, a former lawman turned investigative journalist and Bigfoot researcher, will join George Knapp for his take on the latest Bigfoot DNA findings. He'll also discuss more missing person cases from national parks and forests that government agencies seem to be less than interested in seriously investigating. Related Link. "

" Missing-411 is the first comprehensive research about people who have disappeared in the wilds of North America. It’s understood that people routinely get lost, some want to disappear but this story is about the unusual. Nobody has ever studied the archives for similarities, traits and geographical clusters of missing people, until now.

A tip from a national park ranger led to this 3+ years and a 7000 hour investigative effort into understanding the stories behind people who have vanished. The book chronicles children, adults and the elderly who disappeared, sometimes in the presence of friends and relatives. As Search and Rescue personnel exhaust leads and places to search, relatives start to believe kidnappings and abductions have occurred. The belief by the relatives is not an isolated occurrence; it replicates itself time after time, case after case across North America."

Rachel Koechner And Daughter Missing And In Danger, Sheriff Says

By BILL DRAPER 03/18/13 07:37 PM ET EDT

Rachel Koechner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A central Missouri woman who has been missing with her young daughter since Thursday seemed to be reading from a script when she called her boyfriend and told him she was fine, but she later indicated to a sheriff that she was in trouble, authorities said Monday.

Rachel Koechner, 28, and her 4-year-old daughter, Zoee Sandner, were reported missing Thursday night after last being seen earlier that day in the Brookfield area. Chariton County Sheriff Chris Hughes said the two are believed to be with Koechner's ex-husband, Devon Sandner, 37, who is the girl's father, and are considered endangered because of a history of domestic violence. Devon Sander has not been charged in connection with their disappearance, but police are looking for him.

March 19, 2013

The University of Central Florida student who planned to massacre his fellow students had ordered more than $700 worth of weapons online, including two packages of ammunition, gun shooting DVDs, and accessories for his weapons that arrived on campus after the attack had already been thwarted.

The packages contained even more ammunition for the attack that former UCF student James Oliver Seevakumaran, 30, planned to carry out Monday morning shortly after midnight.

He already had a handgun, assault rifle, high capacity magazines, and four homemade bombs he hoped to use on fellow students after pulling the fire alarm and forcing them into the crowded hallways, according to police.

One day after a judge stopped Lifetime from broadcasting its scheduled movie about murderer Christopher Porco, the network filed an emergency appeal Wednesday. “The March 19 injunction was improperly entered and should immediately be vacated or stayed,” said Lifetime’s lawyers in the motion (read it here) filed in the state Appellate’s Division. Guns and Texas do not mix. Better bring a big gun down here because we do not mess around.

Post by Nene_Please on Thu Mar 21, 2013 5:33 pm

This happen in Maypearl, Ellis county Texas. I live in Ellis County maybe 15 miles from there and this shows do not come to Texas because we take care of our own. These 2 guys ended up killing themselves over a boltched robbery attempt because they were being attacked by the homeowner, neighbor and the sheriffs department. Sad end but people keep doing stupid things we all are going to start carry guns on us just to survive. Please note I do not side on either side because I am married to a hunter and I am scared to death of guns so I stay out of all conversations that start up and pray that something has to change but first find these missing kids and then worry about these dam guns. The parents are sitting back lauhing because the country is so busy with the gun laws, were are the laws for these kids never found. Oh wait hey do not have time for them just like their parents do not either. Ok I fell better. Next.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — More than 20 Los Angeles detectives are hunting for two men who grabbed a 10-year-old girl from her bedroom before dawn and held her for nearly 12 hours before dropping her off at a hospital near her San Fernando Valley home, police said.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith asked for the public's help in finding the men Thursday, saying they believe strangers took the girl to several locations in different cars.

The girl was found with cuts and bruises on her face and told police she did not know the men, Smith said.

She had been awake for much of her ordeal and has been resting at home and is going to be re-interviewed by detectives later Thursday, he said.

Patients of Oklahoma doctor line up to get tested for hepatitis, HIV

Published March 30, 2013 | Associated Press

(VIDEO)

TULSA, Oklahoma – Hundreds of patients of an oral surgeon accused of unsanitary practices showed up at a health clinic Saturday, looking to find out whether they were exposed to hepatitis or the virus that causes AIDS.

Letters began going out Friday to 7,000 patients who had seen Dr. W. Scott Harrington during the past six years, warning them that poor hygiene at his clinics created a public health hazard. The one-page letter provided information on how and where to seek treatment but couldn't explain why Harrington's allegedly unsafe practices went on for so long.

Testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and the virus that causes AIDS began at 10 a.m. Saturday, but many arrived early and stood through torrential downpours. The Tulsa Health Department said 420 people were tested Saturday at its North Regional Health and Wellness Center. Screenings resume Monday morning.

NICOLE RYAN CASE

LAPD names suspect in 10-year-old girl's abduction

March 30, 2013

By Jason Kandel, Samantha Tata and Christina Cocca, NBCLosAngeles.com

Investigators named a 30-year-old parolee as wanted in the case of a missing 10-year-old Northridge girl, who turned up barefoot and wounded in Woodland Hills last week.

Tobias Dustin Summers, who has a distinct tattoo on his right arm (pictured below), is wanted in connection with the girl's abduction, LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese said at a Saturday afternoon news conference.

Summers has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2002, Albanese said. He was released from prison in July 2012 under California’s AB 109, an initiative aimed at easing prison overcrowding, and was on "post-supervised release," Albanese said.

Probation officials believe the 30-year-old is a transient known to frequent the North Hollywood and Devonshire areas. Summers is about 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with blue eyes and cropped blond hair. He not a registered sex offender and authorities said there is no indication that the victim or her family knows the suspect.

"We really need the public's help to take this guy into custody. If they see him, we can't emphasize enough, call 911," LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith said.

Texas district attorney, wife found dead in home

By Makenzie Bowker
updated 7:25 PM EDT, Sun March 31, 2013

•Kaufman County D.A. Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia were found Saturday
•Two months ago, Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was killed
•Authorities have not identified a suspect

A somber scene in Kaufman County, Texas: Police are trying to piece together what happened to District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia. The pair were gunned down in their home and discovered late Saturday. One official says a door was kicked in and there were bullet casings scattered everywhere.

The attack comes two months after Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was shot to death outside the county courthouse. After that shooting, McLelland was very outspoken on the hunt for Hasse's killer. He spoke out in January saying he was confident they would find the perpetrator and "let the people of Kaufman County prosecute you to the fullest extent to the law."

Official: Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were "targeted" in killing

CBS/AP/ March 31, 2013, 11:20 AM
Updated 8:30 p.m. ET

(VIDEO)

KAUFMAN, TEXAS | Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland took no chances after one of his assistant prosecutors was assassinated two months ago. McLelland said he carried a gun everywhere he went and took extra care when answering the door at his home.

"I'm ahead of everybody else because, basically, I'm a soldier," the 23-year Army veteran boasted in an interview less than two weeks ago.

On Saturday, he and his wife were found dead in their home just outside the town of Forney, about 20 miles from Dallas, killed in an attack for which authorities have given no motive.

Sources told CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas that the DA was shot multiple times with what is believed to be an assault rifle, while Cynthia McLelland was only shot once. Sources also say that there were no signs of forced entry.

Killing of Texas district attorney, wife, seen as targeted

By Marice Richter
DALLAS | Sun Mar 31, 2013 6:49pm EDT

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland

(Reuters) - The killing of a Texas district attorney and his wife, in the same county where an assistant prosecutor was shot dead outside a courthouse in January, does not appear to be random, a local official said on Sunday.

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found with fatal gunshot wounds at their home near the town of Forney, Texas, on Saturday, two months after Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was gunned down.

"In my view it appears that it was not random. It was a targeted attack," Forney Mayor Darren Rozell told CNN.

"We're obviously sad and shocked but there's some outrage too," said Rozell.
