Try this: JA has an attachment disorder?

http://www.childrenintherapy.org/proponents/thomasb.html

Clipped:
Signs and Symptoms of Attachment Disorder [from slide]

Superficially engaging and charming
Lack of eye contact…
Lack of ability to give and receive affection
Extreme control problems
Destructive to self and others
Cruelty to animals
Chronic crazy lying
Learning lags and disorder
Lack of cause and effect thinking
Lack of conscience
Abnormal eating patterns
Poor peer relationships
Preoccupied with fire, blood, & gore
Persistent nonsense questions & chatter
Inappropriately demanding and clingy
Abnormal speech patterns (what?)
False allegations of abuse
Presumptive entitlement issues
Triangulation of adults
Parents appear hostile and angry

If they can keep your eyes angry, then they don’t have to bond to you.

Parents [of children with“Attachment Disorder”] appear hostile and angry, because they are.

[D]ivorce…very common in households with Attachment Disordered children. They triangulate. They separate. They divide and conquer....They like being in control.

The child with Attachment Disorder walks into a room. First thing they do, they’re casing it....They figure out where the exits are. They figure what people they can con and manipulate like that [snaps fingers]….And they’re also look where your purses are and all that fun stuff. If you’re ever missing your keys. Ha, ha. Sweetums knows exactly where they are.

Another theory

Post by curious on Fri Mar 22, 2013 12:14 pm

If Travis committed suicide in a final attempt to get away from Jodi, would anyone be looking at Jodi? No. Everyone would be saying that Travis had personal problems or that he had mental problems which led him to commit suicide. Jodi would be seen as the grieving girlfriend. No one would ever know how she had pushed Travis to the point of killing himself. She deserves the death penalty.

But he didn't.Impossible to stab himself in the back so many times; impossible to slit his own throat in this fashion.

The hand print with the DNA and the person who was seen in the camera pics dragging his body, sposedly having sex with him; the person who DID drive over a thousand miles to kill him; the same person who slit tires, hacked security codes and crawled thru doggy door; the same person doing handstands and trash picking and singing songs while waiting to be arrested; this person who was worried about her make-up before a mug shot.... and that loser is JODI ARIAS.

BTW, Welcome to RC! We are glad to have you here.

PTSD:

-- After the murder: Claiming PTSD after the fact would only explain why she was unable to answer certain questions

--Before the murder: Might explain why she had certain behavior; however, the incidents she has talked about, her mother/father/Bobby abusing her, she remembers and supplies PLENTY of details.

Use of the word FOG to describe forgetfulness attributed to some trauma of your own making or resulting from a stress situatation:

" Police found blood spatter in multiple locations inside the Wright home despite Susan Wright's
efforts to clean the crime scene after the murder. Susan would tell the court that the week of
the murder she was in a "fog"
."

Taken from the murder of Jeff Wright by spouse Susan Wright.

For Many, Herpes May Cause Memory Loss Along with Cold Sores

" The results showed that the people who had higher levels of infection had a 25 percent increase in the risk of a low score on a common test of cognition called the Mini-Mental State Examination. Both memory and thinking skills were tested every year for an average of eight years."

Cold sores may be tied to memory loss, study suggests

" Dr. Alireza Atri, a cognitive neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, cautioned the results of the study should be considered preliminary. “There is some plausibility but I would also say that these things (cold sore and herpes viruses) are very common. So it would be rare if older people did not develop antibodies to them."

I think I have the motive for JA killing TA:
When TA expressed his disdain for JA May, 26, 2008, even calling her a psycho/socio, he ended the relationship with JA for good.

JA, hearing his words of disgust and realizing there was nothing she could do to get back into his favor, did go to Mesa with one last hope TA would forgive/accept her; if he did not, she was going to kill him.

JA had taken on TA's life, his persona; she felt she owned it. She had traded her prior experiences and existent to assume HIS life. When he took that away from her, JA felt he had taken away everything she was and had worked so hard to achieve. He destroyed her purpose, her functioning, in her world. Because he had denied her, insulted her attempts to own him, and then divorced himself from her, she was left with nothing; he had to go.

And the jealousy? It was minor; JA could have tolerated anything sexual as it had worked in the past as she was jockeying for her position in life according to her wishes. Slit tires, hacked emails, fake letters, phony texts had eliminated most of the competition so JA was not too concerned with "jealous"--- she could handle that.

JA could not handle the complete rejection TA handed her.

Psychopaths and their brain development:

" They are characterised by a lack of empathy and remorse, and use aggression in a planned way to secure what they want (status, money etc.). Previous research has shown that psychopaths’ brains differ structurally from healthy brains, but until now, none have examined these differences within a population of violent offenders with ASPD. "

" These areas are important in understanding other people’s emotions and intentions and are activated when people think about moral behaviour. Damage to these areas is associated with impaired empathising with other people, poor response to fear and distress and a lack of ‘self-conscious’ emotions such as guilt or embarrassment. "

http://www.kcl.ac.uk/iop/news/records/2012/May/The-antisocial-brain.aspx

" Psychopaths/sociopaths are diagnosed by their purposeless and irrational antisocial behavior, lack of conscience, and emotional vacuity. They are thrill seekers, literally fearless. Punishment rarely works, because they are impulsive by nature and fearless of the consequences. Incapable of having meaningful relationships, they view others as fodder for manipulation and exploitation. According to one psychological surveying tool (DSM IIIR) between 3-5% of men are sociopaths; less than 1% of female population are sociopaths."

" But when it is easy to devalue others, and you have had a lifetime of perceived injustices and rejection, murder might seem like a natural choice."

" The abnormal brain wave activity comes from the temporal lobes and the limbic system of the brain, the areas that control memory and emotions. When development of this part of the brain is genetically impaired, and the parents of the child are abusive, irresponsible or manipulative, the stage is set for disaster."

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/notorious/tick/psych_6.html

"Dress him in a suit and he looks like ten other men," said one attorney in describing Dahmer. Like all evolved predators, they know how to stalk their victims by gaining their trust. Serial killers don't wear their hearts on their sleeves. Instead, they hide behind a carefully constructed facade of normalcy.

Mask of Sanity

Because of their psychopathic nature, serial killers do not know how to feel sympathy for others, or even how to have relationships. Instead, they learn to simulate normal behavior by observing others. It is all a manipulative act, designed to entice people into their trap. Serial killers are actors with a natural penchant for performance. Henry Lee Lucas described being a serial killer as "being like a movie-star ... you're just playing the part."

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/notorious/tick/1b.html

" When they are stalking a victim, psychopaths don't consciously feel anger, "but the violence shows the dissociated effect." Many killers seem to go into a trance during their predatory and killing phases. The psychopath seeks idealized victims in order to shame, humiliate, and destroy them."'I must have' ends with 'It was not worth having,'" says Meloy. By degrading the victim, the psychopath is attempting to destroy the hostile enemy within his own mind. At Gacy's trial, forensic psychiatrist Richard Rappaport said that "he is so convinced that these qualities exist in this other person, he is completely out of touch with reality ... and he has to get rid of them and save himself ... he has to kill them."

" Psychopaths know society's rights and wrongs, and will behave as if they sincerely believe in these values. "There are individuals who are so psychopathically disturbed that, in my opinion, no attempts should be made to treat them," says Meloy. Many psychopaths will read psychology books, and become skilled at imitating other more "sympathetic" mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia. They will use any means possible to manipulate their evaluators."

Mind of a psychopath:

"Always looking to manipulate, serial killers will do just about anything to convince the authorities of their insanity. Being declared "legally insane" means avoiding death row, and if the criminal can convince his keepers that he has fully recovered, there is the hope of actually being released. "

"According to Joel Norris, there are 6 phases of the serial killer's cycle:
1) The Aura Phase, where the killer begins losing grip on reality;
2) The Trolling Phase, when the killer searches for a victim;
3) The Wooing Phase, where the killer lures his victim in;
4) The Capture Phase, where the victim is entrapped;
5) The Murder or Totem phase, which is the emotional high for killers; and finally,
6) The Depression Phase, which occurs after the killing."

JA and her abnormal sexual conquests:
Her dwelling on these ridiculous stories

"Sex is only an instrument used by the killer to obtain power and domination over his victim," writes Steven Egger. According to Bundy, sex was not the principal source of gratification. "I want to master life and death," he said. He wanted total control over his victims: "Possessing them physically as one would possess a potted plant, a painting, or a Porsche. Owning, as it were, this individual." Others believe that a deviant sexual drive is the cause, and power is the tool to achieve sexual satisfaction.

Some serial killers will identify with perceived sources of power, in an attempt to siphon off some of the feeling of control and omnipotence for themselves. Some will indulge in illusions of religious grandeur, be it Christ or Satan. Others look to the police, and will mimic them, as if their borrowed authority gives the killer the authority to kill others. One of the most chilling power role models, however, is Hitler."

" Jurors had many questions for Arias. One was, “Why were you afraid of the consequences if you killed Travis in self-defense?”

“I believed it was not OK . . . to take someone’s life even if you were defending yourself,” Arias answered.

Diagnosing Jodi Arias: Antisocial Personality Disorder
3 parts

http://kristinarandle.com/blog/diagnosing-jodi-arias-part-one-of-three/

" Lack of Remorse or Guilt

You will also see in her interviews and court testimony that she describes the flattery that she used with Travis Alexander and admitted that she said it because he liked to hear it. In her recorded phone sex tape, you will hear her using great degrees of flattery when speaking to Travis. Again, this flattery is simply an attempt to deceive and manipulate Mr. Alexander. What is lacking, in the antisocial, is honesty, integrity, morality and concern for the well-being of any other. The antisocial does not show remorse because of course they do not feel remorse. If you simply do not care about the well-being of another, or for that matter any other, you cannot feel and will not feel guilt or remorse after having harmed them."

" Ms. Arias’ defense team is aware of the excessive violence, that is inconsistent with a self-defense plea and that is why they have brought up the battered spouse syndrome. "
http://kristinarandle.com/blog/diagnosing-jodi-arias-part-two-of-three/

" Individuals with CD who are narcissistic also tend to be aggressive, dominant and manipulative. Jodi was aggressive in life and in her relationships. When she wanted to move out of her parent’s home, she did. When Jodi learned that Matt McCartney was cheating on her with a woman named Bianca, she drove an hour and a half to confront the woman. Most people try to avoid confrontations and do not seek them out. Jodi often arrived unannounced at Travis’s home, even when they were no longer officially dating and he had begun dating other women. Virtually every friend and relative of Travis’s, who was interviewed by Detective Flores, independently described Jodi as being an obsessed stalker.

If Jodi was in fact demonstrating characteristics of ASPD in her youth, she would have been a nightmare for her family. People with CD are aggressive, angry, hostile, rule-breakers, manipulative, feel easily slighted, and disobey authority. They throw tantrums and can be physically abusive with peers and family members. Maybe that is why Jodi’s parents told Detective Flores of their belief that she had something to do with Travis’s murder. She not only had something to do with it, Jodi Arias shot and nearly decapitated her ex-lover, a man she claimed to love unconditionally.

Jodi alleges a long history of severe abuse by her parents yet no member of her family has testified about the abuse. The family is in the court room every day and could easily take the witness stand. They are not listed as defense witnesses. They apparently have no plans to testify in defense of their daughter. The problem is that if they were to testify, then they would have to be cross examined.

The prosecution would then be free to question her parents about Jodi’s childhood. Keep in mind, that Jodi could greatly use her parents confirming the fact that they did indeed abuse her when she was a child. It’s a part of the battered woman defense which they are using to explain the savagery of her killing. But her parents are not going to testify. Perhaps the truth about Jodi’s childhood, which the prosecution would reveal upon the cross examination, would be much more harmful to Jodi."

The REAL Jodi:

" MARCH 31, 2013 AT 3:08 AM
When we saw her on the stand with JM, that was her personality. That is what she is like. I remember hearing her ex, Abe, commenting on this. He said, Jodi was always very “snarky.” Imagine how difficult it would be to interact with someone who acted that way, who always had to be right, who always had to have it her way. Impossible. Thank you for your comments Therese! Dr KR"

Yeah, I never thought she was able to swipe money from his bank account. She had that taped conversation - she knew how to hack into his emails/myspace/facebook - at the very least she knew how to contact his friends under the guise of John Doe.

She threatened him - he lashed back. He finally knew what he was dealing with. He'd never talked that way before to her. It was final.

It really was.

Even though he had the one last roll in the hay, he would not have walked across the street to have it. She showed up at his door. He said "what the heck". But he was never gonna invite her to his home - he was never gonna invite her to travel with him - he was never gonna drive to Northern California.

Jodi Arias definitely planned to kill TA. She coerced him to get in the shower supposedly for photos. She wanted it to be "clean" of DNA traces. What she didn't bargain for was TA's will to live. She never expected him to make it out of the shower to fight for his life.

post 36462:

"... I think part of it had to do with revenge

It seems like there was alot of emotions and financial uncertainty going on in jodis life around the time she killed travis so its hard to say what exactly caused her to do this because there are probably alot of contributing factors ..But this is just what i think

I dont think jodi had much going on in her life before she met travis, so like @hatchan said earlier, i think jodi meeting travis was probably one of the best things that ever happened to her. For someone with as many issues as jodi, i think the thought of her losing someone that provided many of the things that she always wanted in life, she probably couldnt process having that all taken away from her and potentially going to someone else. Around the time of travis death, jodi was obsessed with him, and in her mind, no matter what she did to try to get him to be with her and only her, he would not commit, he would not do what she wanted him to do, and i think this was the basic reason why she killed him. I think she probably felt "wronged" because after all they been through, at the end of may 2008 it seemed like he was really trying to end things and get away from her. She played the part all that time she knew him and seemingly did everything he asked of her, yet he was trying to cut off contact? I dont think she could handle that type of rejection, plus potentially losing everything he possibly could have provided for her materially, I think she felt slighted by all of that and it motivated her to kill.

Also I think in her mind, him being dead was better than someone else potentially receiving what was 'supposed' to be hers. In one of the interrogation tapes i remember Flores was talking to her about something, then she randomly said she "it's not that I don't still love travis...I just needed to move on." Knowing how obsessive she was, I dont think she could move on from travis knowing he was still alive but she was not with him. If she knew he was dead, then she wouldnt have to deal with this problem anymore

But we will never know for sure why she really killed him. I think the true reason(s) why she killed travis are probably very petty, which is why she probably doesnt want to tell the real story of why she did it. Her true reasons for killing travis are probably so stupid, its probably easier for her to make up stories than to just tell the truth "

Post 36468

" ... What??? No way. Do you listen to Jodi? Everything is all about her, her, her, her and her. She could give a shit if Travis would have been capable of harming other women, or children. Remember, aside from a handful of texts (and given the amount of communication between Jodi and Travis, consider how little 'abuse' there actually was in the relationship), there is absolutely no proof that Travis was the evil, debasing abuser Jodi claimed he was.

And Jodi lies every time she opens her mouth.

No, the killing was absolutely about ownership, and revenge. Travis was trying to get rid of her. Travis was threatening to 'tell everyone' something about her. Whatever method she had been using to control him, he was attempting to break free from. This was unacceptable to her. He was slipping away. He may not have been completely free of her control on June 4, 2008, but she knew that he was trying to put distance between them.

She even said in her journals that he made her happy and sick at the same time. She wanted him, but didn't want to want him. That speaks of obsessive emotion right there. The combination of her rage at not being able to let him go, despite knowing that she couldn't and shouldn't want him like that, plus her rage at being 'abandoned', were the ground-work for the murder. When he threatened her with 'outing her' as a liar and manipulator to everyone, he became a problem that had to be removed.

I am not an expert on abuse. But I have been abused. I know many women, and men who have been abused. The behaviors I have seen exhibited by Jodi and Travis does indeed show a pattern of abuse. That abuse did not come from Travis's end. He said some horrible things to her. They were abusive things, yes, but there were so few instances of that abuse (except on that long, long day where he was clearly hurt, bewildered, and angry at her), that it is ridiculous to state that Jodi was abused to the point of 'breaking'. The 'abusive' behavior of Travis is NOTHING compared to the abuse heaped on him from Jodi.

In fact, the so-called abuse from Travis stemmed directly from him reacting to an abuse from Jodi. (This was testified to, in court, by the prosecution's doctor, who said specifically that Travis's angry texts and emails were in response to Jodi violating him). In other words, Jodi abused him, and Travis responded to that abuse with anger. That does not make Travis an evil abuser. It makes him a victim who reacted in a very human way to a negative situation.

Instead of taking Jodi's word for things, look at the actual evidence. Look at her stalking, obsessive behavior. Look at her earlier entries in her journals, where she talked about killing things that did not serve her. Look at how she loved and loathed Travis. Look at how, even after they broke up, she moved down to be near him. Look at the strange times she'd show up at his home. Look at how she broke into his email. She is probably responsible for his slashed tires. She is definitely responsible for his slashed throat.

Now look at what Travis did. He called her a whore, a three-hole wonder. She has unsubstantiated claims of physical abuse. That is ALL. He helped her find a place to live. He paid her to clean his house. He gave her a car, and allowed her to make low payments on it, so she could have a vehicle when the inevitable repossession of her car would take place. I don't think this adds up to behavior that could be construed as abusive to Jodi, let alone make Travis such a huge threat to mankind that Jodi felt she had to remove him from existence.

And no, Travis was not perfect. Please be to pointing me in the direction of a human who hasn't acted like an asshole at times, and I'll give you a cookie. Just because Jodi is a woman doesn't make her a victim of mean old Travis. Just because a woman says she is abused does not actually make it true. It is an unfortunate truth that women have been trained to use the abuse card as a weapon, as well as an honest reason for certain behaviors. Men can't defend themselves against a woman without the fear of being charged with abuse. Why is it so hard for some people to accept that if Jodi lied about everything else, she lied about the abuse as well? Is it that difficult to understand that even women can be that evil? "

IMO, JA stole the journals as she did not want anyone reading what Travis may have written re JA. Travis HAD threatened to expose her and JA wanted control over those words he may have written in his journals. Very simple that. (She probably has poured over his written work on his social media pages, his texts, etc. making sure everything has been expunged. Since the journals have not been located, I have to speculate Matt M and her parents are FULLY aware of what Travis wrote in his journals.)

Excellent observation!

Post 36490:

" ... 4. That's right, Jodi went to him. He did not go to her.

Now, before you continue on this train of thought, think about this: This is a woman who confronted all her previous ex's about their cheating on her. She drove what, like two hours away to confront the woman her boyfriend was sleeping with. She moved out of her house when she was a teenager. This is not a woman who would accept abuse or control in any way. So before you suggest that Travis used his mystical powers to control her from the moment they meant, really, really think about ALL the evidence, instead of cherry-picking.

Jodi wanted the sex. She engaged in it consensually. She never said no, and the few times she mentioned that she was uncomfortable, Travis STOPPED. He stopped. This is not an abuser. ..."
