WAUKESHA, Wis. –  A Wisconsin judge ruled Monday that two 13-year-old girls accused of stabbing a classmate to please the online horror character Slender Man will stay in adult court, where they could face a sentence of decades in prison.

Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren said he was worried that the girls would stop receiving mental health treatment and be released into the community with no supervision when they exited the juvenile system at age 18. Keeping them in the adult system would protect people longer, the judge said.

"The real issue is what happens in a few years," Bohren said. "They've committed an offense that was ... frankly vicious."

The two girls, both wearing dresses and in shackles, said nothing during the 45-minute proceeding. One of them bounced in her chair until a bailiff whispered to her. She spent the rest of the hearing hunched over and glancing at the ceiling. The girls' attorneys also said nothing to the judge.

Remorse? For the one girl, I am sure she is still suffering terrible emotional reactions to what she was coerced into doing that night. She should NOT be tried as an adult but needs tremendous counseling to become to come to terms with her own actions. (IIRC, she DID try to weakly question the other girl's actions that night.)

IIRC, the "leader" of this tragedy was the girl called Morgan.
She was hell bent on acting out her immature idealizations of Slenderman.
She bullied her friend into stabbing the third girl.
Morgan even planned this by asking the victim to her house for a "sleep over".
Morgan made sure the adults in the home were gone that night so she could carry out her nefarious actions.
We may be seeing a narcissist develop.

Morgan should be tried as a child.
She is legally a child.
She may have some screws loose but she is not and should not be culpable as an adult.
Try her, sentence her, apply long term parole, and make darn sure she is getting counseling.

The other girl needs to be institutionalized and given some lengthy counseling is a quiet and controlled environment.

The victim, too, will need some long term counseling.
She needs to be able to come to terms with what her "friends" did to her.
She needs to develop safe guards against anyone ever controlling her.
She needs to eventually move past this horrendous incident.

The parents ALL should be enrolled in counseling, child development classes, etc..

"....Their attorneys had argued they belong in juvenile court because their brains aren't fully developed, they suffer from mental illness and they won't get the treatment they need in the adult system. They also asked Bohren to find the state law forcing 10-year-olds into adult court unconstitutional because it leads to cruel and unusual punishment.

Bohren refused to find the statutes unconstitutional on Thursday, writing that juveniles aren't as culpable for their actions as adults but that doesn't exempt them from adult sentences. ?????

He rejected the rest of the defense teams' arguments on Monday. He acknowledged what he called the girls' delusions and mental illness, but said if he moved them into the juvenile system they'd be free and clear at age 18 with no oversight and no more treatment. If they are convicted as adults, they'd eventually be released on extended supervision and treatment would continue....."

I don't much like the logic the judge used.

Girls accused in Slender Man stabbing seek release

WAUKESHA, Wis. --Two Wisconsin girls accused of trying to kill their friend as a sacrifice to the horror fiction character Slender Man are seeking their release after nearly two years in custody, saying they're not dangerous and can return to family.

An attorney for one of the girls adds that his client is a vulnerable inmate at a county detention center where she was sexually assaulted last year.

A judge will consider the girls' requests Friday.

The prosecutor declined to comment on Wednesday.

‘Slender Man’ suspect seeks placement with grandparents

Bruce Vielmetti, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel  10:04 p.m. EDT April 13, 2016

(Photo: Charles Auer, AP)

MILWAUKEE — A Wisconsin girl charged in the Slender Man stabbing case wants to live with her grandparents until her trial and avoid becoming "institutionalized" at a juvenile jail where she's suffered assaults from other young inmates, according to a court filing.

The revelation comes at the end of a letter to the judge outlining Morgan Geyser's attorneys' plans for her placement should she be granted a bail reduction at a hearing set for Friday.

Geyser, 13, and Anissa Weier, 14, have been held at Washington County's secure juvenile detention center — except for stretches at a state mental hospital — since their arrests May 31, 2014, in a planned attack on a sixth-grade classmate, supposedly to please Slender Man, a fictional Internet character.

Geyser and Weier are charged as adults with attempted first degree intentional homicide, but are awaiting a decision on their appeals of a judge's ruling against transferring them to juvenile court.

Each has also asked to reduce their $500,000 bails and be allowed to await trial away from the Washington County center, a facility meant to house children for a few days at time. A hearing is set for Friday in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Geyser has been diagnosed with early onset schizophrenia. She spent several weeks earlier this year at a state mental hospital, where she responded to treatment and is now stabilized.

The one girl should be kept locked up. Her home, her ideas, her instigation, her premeditation. The other girl? Shy, friendless, quiet... she desperately needs help. There is no way either should be returned to society at this time. The instigator will think she got by with the crime... and the other girl is very vulnerable to peer influence.

One of two Slender Man stabbing teens faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to a lesser charge for 'attacking her classmate to impress the fictitious horror character'

".. The plea means her trial next month will look only at whether she is legally responsible for the crime or not guilty because of mental illness.

She could face 10 years in prison if she's found guilty. If not, she'll spend three years in a mental hospital.

Prosecutors allege she and her co-defendant, Morgan Geyser, stabbed their classmate 19 times in a Waukesha park and left her for dead following a sleepover.

The two teens then allegedly planned to walk hundreds of miles north to meet Slender Man in a forest.

Leutner managed to crawl out of the woods to a path where she was found by a bicyclist with stab wounds to her chest, abdomen and arms....."
