A Colorado mother dying of cancer has made a final plea to find her son who was snatched from his crib 30 years ago.

Bernice Abeyta, 73, said her one wish is for anyone with information about Christopher Abeyta's 1986 disappearance to come forward.

She is currently fighting cholangiocarcinoma, a rare gallbladder cancer.

Back in May, her daughter Denise Alves said her mother was told she had four to eight months to live.

'Of course, I would like to have him back,' she told ABC News. 'I've always felt very positive that even though it's been 30 years, it would happen.'

Bernice had laid seven-month-old Christopher in his crib (left). On July 15, 1986, she woke up to an empty crib discovering Christopher, the youngest of seven children, was gone. A photo composite of him is pictured right

'I think that's what kept me going in trying to find him. There's no way we were going to forget him,' she continued.

Bernice added: 'I would reassure him that we love him no matter what, no matter who he is.

'We are still going to be looking. I was always positive that we were going to find him.'

The night before his disappearance, Bernice had laid seven-month-old Christopher in his crib.

The following day on July 15, 1986, she woke up to an empty crib discovering Christopher, the youngest of seven children, was gone.

Christopher, described as a smart, happy baby, was born to parents Bernice and Gil Abeyta in Colorado Springs on November 28, 1985.

Bernice said her son 'was a doll' who loved to make the family laugh.

The night before his disappearance his sister, 45-year-old Alves who was 15 at the time, recalled how she had been in the living room playing with her brother.

She said her family was sitting together and she was pretending to sneeze from smelling a bouquet of roses while Christopher laughed.

Alves told ABC News she gave Christopher his bottle before she and her mom laid him in his crib.

Christopher Enoch Abeyta was seven months old when someone took him from his crib at the foot of his parents’ bed in the early morning hours of July 15, 1986 and disappeared.

Since then, a nasty legal battle has erupted in El Paso County District Court between the parents and sister of Christopher and his father’s former mistress, Emma Corrine Bradshaw of Castle Rock.

It is an untidy story that revolves around a longstanding affair between Bradshaw, now 66, and Christopher’s father, Gil Abeyta, now 72. A lawsuit and a counterclaim have been filed in El Paso County District Court.

Several of Christopher’s family members have openly said they believe that Bradshaw had something to do with the infant’s disappearance. Bradshaw claims that she had nothing to do with Christopher’s disappearance and that the family’s baseless and relentless pursuit of her got her fired and is now is making her life miserable.

Family offers $100,000 for information in kidnapping from 27 years ago

Posted 7:23 pm, February 25, 2013, by Deborah Takahara, Updated at 05:42pm, February 26, 2013

A Colorado family is now offering a $100,000 reward for help finding a kidnapped boy.

Christopher Abeyta was just 7-months-old when he was taken from his crib in his Colorado Springs home 27 years ago.

His family has never stopped looking for him. And with the recent kidnapping of Jessica Ridgeway raising awareness about child abductions, they are hoping someone will come forward with information to help them find out what happened to Christopher.

Christopher’s mother, Bernice Abeyta said, “It has been a roller coaster. It’s been up and down.”

But she has never given up hope of finding him alive. She said, “I imagine a lot of times our reunion (pause) crying, but that reunion is so happy. It’s your imagination that keeps you going. You think 'wow, it’s going to happen.' I am positive it's going to happen.”

Mother of baby snatched from crib 30 years ago has dying wish to find him

Published October 09, 2016 · FoxNews.com

The mother of a Colorado boy snatched from his crib 30 years ago wants to know what happened to him now that she is close to dying.

Fox 31 Denver reported Friday that Bernice Abeyta, of Colorado Springs, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and that her last wish is to find her missing son. Christopher Abeyta was snatched from his crib on the night of July 15, 1986, when he was 7 months old.

“I do believe he's still alive and at this point I`ve been trying to communicate with him and talk to him and just say ‘you might have to find me Christopher,’” Abeyta told the station.

The 73-year-old woman said she is battling gallbladder cancer and that her days are numbered.

“You want your children to be free…and have a life,” she told the station. “So I’d like this solved before I go.”

Sad. I grew up in Colorado Springs before moving to Phoenix, AZ. I moved in 1988, I don't remember hearing about this case; but, I was young and 1986 was pre-internet, so not surprising I suppose.

P 2:

"....The Abeytas told Colorado Springs police about the calls and detectives were able to trace the calls to the business where Bradshaw was employed, according to Alves’ letter sent last year to Bradshaw’s boss...."

She did it! Her history alone is suspect.
She can't take rejection....so seeks revenge.
The fact re the phone calls and then the trace back...

Yes, I suspect that you are correct, Freckles. Strange that the father of the baby would resume his affair with a woman suspected of kidnapping his child. That is a little suspect too, IMO.
